Materia Nova is an innovation centre that brings collective intelligence to Economic, Environmental
and Societal challenges.
This centre is specialized in Future’s materials. Its mission consists of encouraging the transfer of
technologies between the world of basic research and the industrial world
Its « white biotech » department will reinforce its activity in the field of plant physiology
and biochemistry and is looking for a researcher who will be able to lead R&D projects (from
technology watch to scientific publications) and perform ad hoc analysis for external customers.
Your main responsibilities :
-
conduct research and development trials in lab and growth chamber;
study a wide range of processes and functions that plants use to live and survive, including
metabolism, plant hormones, environmental response and transport processes;
Screening for plant defence inducers in labs and growth chamber, interaction with
microorganisms
Modulation of plant defence signals by elicitors and their combination
Translation from the model plant A. thaliana to cultivable crops
Your profile :
Demonstrated research expertise in Plant Biology, Masters Degree or PhD in biology (botany) or
biochemistry.
You are working autonomously and creatively and you have got experience in working in
collaboration projects.
You are highly organized, neat, and have strong critical thinking skills to design and
complete research programs and delivering conclusive results by agreed dates
Advantages :
- Experience in analytical chemistry, enzymology and structural elucidation of elicitors
biomolecules
- Experience conducting plant trials to evaluate products with respect to efficacy, crop
tolerance, soil behaviour and other related experimental techniques
- Interdisciplinary approaches involving plant biochemistry and analytical chemistry
- written and spoken English
- Experience with the model plant A. thaliana or with other plant models
- Knowledge of statistical analyses
