How to “Understand every word”
First, learn to match up the printed words to those you hear. Test yourself by moving your finger
along the French lines as you listen.
Learn what everything means. Turn off the sound and read through the French, looking at the
translation to get the meaning of any words you don’t understand.
Listen again and again until you “understand every word” without looking at the translation. Don’t
worry if you don’t hear all of the words at first. Each subsequent listen will help your ear adjust a
little more to the rhythm of spoken French.
