"A moment inside a movie theatre"
On the occasion of its 10th anniversary, the Metropolis Association is launching a call for participation
with a short film competition revolving around the theme of an experience lived inside a cinema
theatre.
Venturing in a dark room, sitting facing the screen, reminiscing one’s first memory of cinema, or one’s
first cinematic astonishment… being heavily affected or relentlessly indifferent to moving images…
recalling a singular memory spent in a cinema theater…
Through a film ranging between 30 seconds to 3 minutes, share with us
« A moment inside a cinema ».
An international jury will award 2 winning films (a monetary prize and an invitation to the Cannes
Film Festival 2017).
Results will be announced during a festive evening held on 10 July 2016, celebrating 10 years of
Metropolis Cinema in Lebanon, and in parallel with the Rerun of the 2016 Cannes’ Critics Week in
Beirut.
WHO CAN APPLY?
- Participant must be aged between 16 and 30
- Participant must be resident in Lebanon
- The film’s dialogue can be in Arabic, French or English or subtitled in one of these languages
- All formats and genres are accepted (fiction, animation, documentary, experimental video,
shot on film, digital or mobile phone)
WHAT TO PRESENT?
- The film in its final version (Format: HD Pro Res or H264) must be sent via WeTransfer to
[email protected] or delivered on a USB Key or Data DVD to the following address:

- A screening copy of the film (DVD-VIDEO) must be sent to the following address:

- A photocopy of the shooting permit obtained from the Lebanese Directorate of General Security
must be sent along with the film. Please make sure the working title of the film mentioned used
in the shooting permit is the same as the final title of the film
- Biography of the director (max. 40 words, in Arabic, French and English)
- Synopsis of the film (max. 40 words, in Arabic, French and English)
- 1 Film Still
- 1 Photo of the director

"Un moment dans une
salle de cinema"
A l'occasion de ses 10 ans, l'association Metropolis Cinema lance un appel à un concours de court
métrage sur le thème « Un moment dans une salle de cinéma ». Entrer dans une salle obscure,
prendre place face à l'écran, se rappeler de son premier souvenir de cinéma… ressentir une émotion
forte ou rester indiffèrent face aux images qui défilent… se souvenir d’une expérience singulière
vécue dans une salle de cinéma…
A travers un film de 30 secondes (min.) à 3 minutes (max.), partagez avec nous un court métrage de
votre réalisation autour d’une expérience vécue dans une salle de cinéma.
Un jury international récompensera les 2 meilleurs films (un prix monétaire et une invitation au
Festival de Cannes 2017).
Les résultats seront annoncés lors de la soirée festive des 10 ans de Metropolis Cinema qui aura lieu
le 10 juillet 2016, en parallèle avec la Reprise de la Semaine de la Critique du Festival de Cannes 2016
à Beyrouth.
QUI PEUT PARTICIPER?
- Avoir entre 16 et 30 ans
- Etre résident au Liban
- Langue du film en arabe ou français ou anglais ou sous-titré en une de ces 3 langues
- Tous les formats et genres sont acceptés (fiction, animation, documentaire, vidéo expérimentale,
tourné en pellicule, en numérique, avec un portable)
