WHERE ARE YOU FROM?
THE EFFECTS OF COUNTRY-OF-ORIGIN ON PARTNERS’ PERCEPTIONS OF
TRUSTWORTHINESS IN INTERNATIONAL BUSINESS COLLABORATIONS
Pervasive globalization and international interdependence has increased
cross-border collaboration in businesses. This paper studies the effect of
country of origin on the perceptions of trustworthiness of a partner in
international business collaboration. A framework to analyze the impact
of these attitudes is proposed. The paper adds value for both academics
and managers by providing insight into this critical aspect of partner
selection and the establishment of joint international business endeavors.

THE IMPACT OF GROUP-ORIENTED CULTURAL VALUES ON CHOICE OF CONFLICT
MANAGEMENT STYLES AND NEGOTIATION OUTCOMES: AN EMPIRICAL STUDY IN
TURKEY
Globalization has led to increased attention on cultural diversity in
workforces and its influences on organizational practice. This study
examined group-oriented cultural values in Turkish society and their
impact on choice of conflict management styles as well as on business
negotiation outcomes. Structural Equation Modeling was used to analyze
the data collected from 315 managerial personnel of various public and
private organizations in Turkey. The results support the notion that
group-oriented cultural values affect individual’s choice of conflict
management strategies in Turkey and consequently lead to different
outcomes. In particular, the norms about the subordination of personal
needs to group interests and the beliefs about the effects of personal
pursuit on group productivity are the most important predictors of
choices of conflict management styles in resolving group conflicts and
further in negotiating business deals. Managerial implications are then
discussed in the conclusion.

MNE AND CORPORATE SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY:
AN ORGANIZATIONAL LEARNING PERSPECTIVE
Corporate social responsibility (CSR) is becoming an important part of
MNE international strategy. We conceptualize the internalization of the
MNE’s CSR as an organizational learning process and build a theoretical
model to explain how MNEs learn to internalize the social initiatives
during their internationalization process.

THE DETERMINANTS OF FDI LOCATION CHOICE IN CHINA: A DISCRETE-CHOICE
ANALYSIS
This paper addresses four questions: What are the determinants of FDI
location choice in China? Which factors determine investors’ choice
between SEZs, OCCs and ETDZs on one hand, and the other economic
zones and cities on the other hand? Which factors determine investors’
choice between SEZs and ETDZs? Are there similarities and differences
between the factors that explain the first choice studied and the second
one? Based on a data set of 1218 firm-level observations, the results of
the binary logit regressions indicate that various factors explain the
location choice of FDI in China, which differ by country of origin and
activity sectors. Overall, the results show that the protection of
intellectual rights, the agglomeration economies, the investments in
education and the GDP of the region affect the location choice of FDI.
These results can be used by policy-makers to divert FDI from coastal to
inland regions. Finally, the last part of the paper derives, from the
obtained results, implications for future research and theory building.

PROFILING AND MODELLING HIGH-GROWTH AND RAPIDLY INTERNATIONALIZING
ENTERPRISES FROM CANADA
This paper responds to wide gaps in the literature of growth and
internationalization. It reports on the characteristics of firms in Canada
based on a sample of rapidly growing and internationalizing smaller
Canadian enterprises. Based on a literature review, nine hypotheses on
the impacts of age, location, initial size and revenues, initial number of
staff, incremental staff after five years of growth and productivity and
internationalization intensities are presented and tested. Similarly, eight
OLS-based models for the entire sample and two sub-samples of
Internationalize- and Local-firms are formulated and tested. High-growth
and rapid internationalization parallel each other and increased
competitiveness appear to be a common driver of high growth and
internationalization Phenomena.

REAPING ADVANTAGES FROM OPPORTUNITIES OF OFFSHORE OUTSOURCING TO CHINA:
STRATEGIC AND OPERATIONAL CONSIDERATIONS
The widespread offshore-outsourcing strategy for manufacturing
companies is considered as a source of many economic problems in
Canada and Quebec. This Paper addressed this issue and find that the
New International Work Division (NIWD) and the offshore outsourcing
can create a win-win situation for our Canadian-Quebecer firms and
Economy.

OIL AND GAS OPERATIONS, SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY, AND SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT
IN ARCTIC COMMUNITIES
This paper develops a theoretical framework regarding major contextual
factors for oil and gas companies working in the Arctic that affect the
strategy and implementation of CSR in Arctic communities. After
developing a matrix of possible approaches to CSR the paper discusses
conflicting expectations of different stakeholder groups, including
multinational non-governmental organizations and supra-national bodies,
in the global community toward CSR in the Arctic. The paper concludes
with a discussion of implications for the strategic use of CSR by
multinational enterprises in the Arctic.
