The Canadian Coalition Against Terror
It is an honour to recognise the work of the Canadian Coalition Against Terror.
The importance of your work is unquestioned. There is no doubt that the tragic assaults on
innocent civilians of the bombings of Air India, the attacks of 9/11 and other incidents of
terrorism have had a profound effect on Canadians.
The advice and input of the Canadian Coalition Against Terror on issues of Canadian policy
towards terrorism have proven invaluable to the work of New Democrats in Parliament. But
your contribution has not been limited to your role in policy. Your support and advocacy for
the victims of terrorism and their families continues to be indispensible to those Canadians
rebuilding their lives in the wake of terror.
New Democrats have always stood for a strong and just response to terror. No cause can
excuse violence against the innocent, no greater goal justifies terrorism.
On behalf of New Democrats across Canada, I wish to take this opportunity to commend
your participation in the National Victims of Crime Awareness Week and offer our continued
support.
