No. ARS 52 - 1986 (ElF) i Foreword The African Regional Organization for Standardization (ARSO) is an african intergovernmental organization made up of member States of the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (UNECA) and the Organization of African Unity (OAU). One of its mandates is the elaboration of African Regional Standards (ARS). The work of elaborating ARS is carried out through ARSO Technical Committees. Each member State has the right to participate in the work of any Technical Committee. International and regional organizations, in liaison with ARSO, also take part in the work. Draft African Regional Standards elaborated by the Technical Committees are circulated for approval by member States in accordance with the rules governing technical activities of ARSO requiring at least 75% approval by member States voting.
