Oakite 200-436-003
® Oakite 200-436-003 Liquid, phosphorous-free, highly-alkaline, spray cleaner for removal of soils, oils and metalworking fluids. PRIMARY APPLICATION Oakite® 200-436-003 is a liquid, single-package, heavy-duty, alkaline; spray cleaner that attacks and quickly removes shop soils, oil, grease, drawing compounds and other metalworking fluids. Oakite 200436-003 is free of phosphorous, silicate and EDTA chelate. Oakite 200-436-003 is primarily formulated for cleaning iron and steel. Oakite 200-436-003 is very concentrated for long bath life. Exact concentration, temperature and spray pressure depends on type and amount of soils. Oakite 200-436-003 is formulated primarily for iron and steel. Its use on aluminum, zinc, copper and other non-ferrous metals may result in chemical attack on the substrate. Because of its high pH, Oakite 200436-003 can be used on magnesium. SOLUTION CONTROL 1. Pipet a 10 ml sample of the Oakite 200-436-003 solution into an Erlenmeyer flask. 2. Add about 25 ml of deionized water. 3. Add about 5 – 7 drops of Gardotest Indicator 2 (phenolphthalein) to the sample. 4. Titrate with Gardotest Solution 57 (1.0N acid) until the last trace of pink is gone. The number of milliliters of Gardotest Solution 57 used is the free alkalinity. 5. The solution can be controlled directly by free alkalinity, or it can be converted to percent by volume by multiplying the free alkalinity by 0.91. Free Alkalinity in ml x 0.91 = Percent by Volume 6. To increase the free alkalinity by 1.0 ml, add 0.91 gallon of Oakite 200-436-003 per 100 gallons (9.1 liters per 1000 liters). For free and total alkalinity, refer to Gardotest Procedure 123. AUTOMATIC CONTROL: The Chemetall Electrodeless Conductivity/Concentration Control System and Chemical Metering Pump can be used to monitor and automatically maintain the concentration of Oakite 200-436-003 using conductivity. Please contact the Chemetall Process Equipment and Engineering Department for specific recommendations.
