Workshop #1: Teaching Through Rotation Activities

demonstrate how to facilitate center activities in a classroom
while promoting interpersonal skills and teamwork.
Workshop #2: Socratic Seminar in English
Based on the work of M.Ed Oscar Graybill, “Socratic Seminars
are a highly motivating form of intellectual and scholarly
discourse conducted in K-12 classrooms. They usually range
from 20-45 minutes, but can be longer if time allows”. An
effective Socratic Seminar creates dialogue as opposed to
debate using an inquiry-based approach to enrich text analysis.
This workshop is designed to give teachers a theoretical basis
for Socratic Seminar as well as practice conducting a seminar
and guidelines for seminar preparation.
Workshop #3: Songs and Games for the ESL Elementary
classroom
In this workshop you will sing new songs and play games that
you can integrate in your Elementary classroom. Your younger

Workshop #4/Atelier #4: Effective strategies for working
with Middle and High school students in Mathematics class/
Presenters will share strategies for working with Middle and
High school students in Mathematics class. These strategies
will be broken in three components: Pre class, during the class
and closing of a class period. Topics addressed will be
discipline, academic engagement, mathematics anxiety, large
class sizes and building strong foundations of mathematics.

they could use to develop the oral skills of their students.
