Dear New Student,
We are looking forward to your arrival on campus for Opening Day on Saturday, August 27th,
2016. Enclosed is the move-in schedule for new incoming freshmen. Please refer to this schedule
to determine your arrival time and designated parking area. It is extremely important that you
adhere to the move-in schedule, as students arriving early cannot be accommodated ahead of
their scheduled time.
Student volunteers will be at the entrances of campus to direct you to your appropriate parking
lot. To make the move-in process convenient for you, staff and students will be available to assist
you in unloading your belongings and moving them to your room.
To ensure that none of your belongings are misplaced, we ask that, prior to your arrival, you
prominently display your name, residence hall, and room number on ALL boxes, bags, and/or
suitcases. The College will make every effort to ensure that your belongings arrive in your room.
However, the College will not accept liability for any lost or damaged personal belongings.
Use your discretion when giving any items of high or personal value to our staff and students.
Please keep in mind that over 1,000 families are moving into five residence halls that day.
Therefore, we would encourage you to bring only those items that are most necessary for the first
four weeks of school. Family Weekend 2016 is scheduled for September 30 – October 2, and this
is a good time to have additional items brought to you by your family. Please see the enclosed
list of items we suggest you purchase locally after you arrive on campus.
The Office of Undergraduate Admission, in conjunction with the Marist College Sustainability
Advisory Committee, created an online welcome packet in an effort to reduce paper
consumption. This packet can be found on the Marist website at www.marist.edu/welcomepacket
after August 15th.
We hope you are as excited as we are about the start of the school year, and we look forward to
seeing you on August 27th!
