Au Mont des Merveilles (Pékin)
Cher Monsieur « Chef de Bureau »,
(LIU Peng est Chef du Bureau des Sports du gouvernement Central de RPC, soit rang de Ministre des Sports, titre
qui n’existe pas dans le gouvernement actuel. Il est aussi Président du Comité Olympique Chinois et adore le ski,
qu’il pratique dans la station de Wan Long où j’ai enseigné.)
Je suis Alain BERTRAND, sinologue et moniteur de ski, qui ai consacré beaucoup de ma vie à la Chine et
au sport. Je suis très fier de la spectaculaire organisation des JO par l’ex « homme malade » de l’Orient. Comme un
dévelopement naturel de cette réussite, je souhaite exposer aux membres du Comité un projet mûri au cours
d’années d’expérience et d’étude.
A ce jour, la Chine jouit d’installations olympiques idéales. La seule installation qui lui manque encore est
une montagne pour compétitions de ski. La Vallée des Merveilles (Miao Feng Shan妙峰山) dans la banlieue nordouest de Pékin répond à ce besoin.
Le monde entier a reconnu et applaudi le succès des JO de 2008 : leur conception, leur mise en œuvre et leur fidèlité
à l’esprit olympique sur les trois plans de l’environnement, de la technique et de l’humanisme. Installations,
communications, media, sécurité étaient top. Aujourd’hui, les efforts et capitaux investis dans les JO d’été peuvent
être mis au service de JO d’hiver à La Vallée des Merveilles (Miao Feng Shan 妙峰山).
Les atouts de la Vallée des Merveilles (Miao Feng Shan) :
4) La Vallée des Merveilles se dresse à 1300m d’altitude. Son relief offre un dénivelé utilisable de 1100m.
5) 42 km du centre ville: par route, de la place Tian An Men au pied de la montagne, au départ du
téléphérique, sur son versant Hai Dian, la distance est de 42 km.
6) La surface totale de la montagne est d’environ 40 km2, chevauchant les trois districts de Hai Dian, Men
Tou Gou et Chang Ping.
4) Les atouts de la montagne: après étude des lieux en 2005, des ingénieurs français ont conclu que son
dénivelé, sa situation, son relief, son climat, ses accès répondaient aux critères des compétitions de JO
d’hiver. La température se prête à la fabrication de neige artificielle, mais ne descend jamais aux niveaux
inconfortables des moins 40° des provinces du nord –est (ex Mandchourie).
5) Dans le sillage des JO d’été, Pékin possède déjà toutes les infrastructures nécessaires à l’accueil des
spectateurs et athlètes, les systèmes modernes de communications, deux autoroutes à quatre voies et une
voie de chemin de fer au pied de la montagne sur sa face Hai Dian, et l’aéroport à vingt minutes. Il existe
même déjà une piste couverte de patinage de vitesse au Pont de la Pierre Blanche (Bai Shi Qiao) sur le
chemin de notre montagne.
Pékin est destinée à devenir la seule capitale au monde à s’énorgueillir d’une station de JO d’hiver.
Utilisation post-jeux des installations de la Vallée des Merveilles (Miao Feng Shan) :
Dans sa mise en oeuvre des JO d’été, Pékin a conçu la réversion des installations pour leur usage citoyen. La Vallée
des Merveilles se prête également à d’excellents développements des loisirs.
1) Une station de ski de première grandeur. De nos jours, les « stations » des environs de Pékin ne sont que de
petits champs de neige, sans dénivelé. Aucune des stations du nord-est (3 provinces du nord–est = ex
Mandchourie) n’atteint la moitié du dénivelé de la Vallée des Merveilles ni le 10ème de sa surface.
2) Proximité. La Vallée des Merveilles est à mi distance du champ de neige le plus proche de Pékin. Dans le
futur, un Pékinois pourra attraper un sandwich à midi, s’offrir trois heures de ski l’après-midi et mettre les

pieds sous la table du dîner.
3) Activités sur toute l’année : les champs de neige pékinois qui ne travaillent que 4 mois par an sont
largement bénéficiaires. Le Mont des Merveilles deviendra en plus un lieu touristique 12 mois sur 12. Il a
déjà un temple syncrétique très important, des chemins de trekking bien fréquentés. Il se prêtera à
l’escalade, au VTT , au ski d’été sur pistes plastiques (style Grande Bretagne), à la natation dans ses lacs
réserves d’eau pour la neige artificielle. Son air pur, son ciel clair et ses bois profonds en feront vite le
ballon d’oxygène de Pékin, qui attirera les familles de citadins, tandis que retraités et amoureux se
promèneront le soir sur la crête, avec les mille feux de la ville scintillant à leurs pieds mille mètres plus bas.
Le téléphérique du Mont des Merveilles sera la cinquième attraction de Pékin après la Cité Interdite, la Grande
Muraille, les Tombeaux des Ming et le Palais d’Eté.
