30, 2014, aged 98. Survived by his wife

“While in the RAF he served in England,
India and Burma. After demobilization he
joined the Colonial Medical Service, and
was stationed in Tanzania before moving
to Canada in 1949. He worked in general
practice in Ontario before specializing in
psychiatry and setting up practice in British Columbia, where he retired in 1982.”

April 20, 2014, aged 92. Survived by his
partner, Lorraine Dominey, a daughter, 6
grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.
“For over 50 years he served the medical
needs of patients from Chester to West
Dover 7 days a week through house calls
and at his office in Hubbards. He said he
had delivered almost 3000 babies during his
time in practice.” A former patient wrote:
“Dr. Cole was a doctor in a billion. At a
time when few families had cars at home
during the day, he came to our home many
times to care for our 5 children. You could
call him anytime, day or night.” Another
patient wrote: “He is a legend in Hubbards.”

medical oncology. Died Aug. 23, 2014,
aged 80. Survived by his wife Jackie, 3
children and 5 grandchildren. “He practised in Windsor, Ont., Toronto, Moncton, NB, and Windsor, NS, before retiring in 2004. In keeping with his wishes,
his body has been forwarded to Dalhousie
University to be used for medical education and research.”

attending medical school. She was a very
gracious lady who was always willing to
help others, and she dearly loved and
cared for abandoned cats.”

88. Survived by his wife Sylvia, 4 children, 10 grandchildren and 3 great
grandchildren. “After many years practising and mentoring interns at St.
Paul’s Hospital in Vancouver, he
worked at the Langley Memorial Hospital as a surgical assistant and chief of the
medical staff.”

Joseph’s Hospital. Died July 26, 2014,
aged 87. Survived by his wife Helen, 3
children and 3 grandchildren. “Known
for his gentle compassion, endless
patience and great skill, he finally retired
at the age of 82.” A colleague commented: “I had the pleasure of working
with him for over 25 years, and remember fondly the caring and compassion he
gave his patients, and the respect and
kindness he shared with his employees
and all the staff in our building.”

of Madrid (Spain), 1954. Died Sept. 7,
2014, aged 84. Survived by his wife Margarite, 4 children and 4 grandchildren.
“Ricardo, who passed away at home following a very lengthy illness, touched the
lives of many multigenerational families
during his 40-plus years of general practice
in Sudbury, Ont., where he was instrumental in establishing the first 24-hour
physician-staffed emergency department in
Northern Ontario. Being in general practice allowed him to experience the entire
range of family medicine, from obstetrics,
pediatrics, geriatrics and surgery to, on
occasion, the suturing of family pets.”

obstetrics and gynecology, and professor,
Dalhousie University; senior member,
CMA. Died Aug. 25, 2014, aged 90. Survived by his wife, Dr. Dianne MacDonald, 5 children, 10 grandchildren and 7
great-grandchildren. “After graduating, he
worked with his father in general practice
in Cape Breton before returning to Dalhousie for specialty training. He contested
the riding of Halifax during the federal
election of 1967, joining the wave of Liberal support behind Pierre Trudeau.”
