Aim / Activities
Alce Nero is a not-for-profit social co-operative, founded in 1981. We plan and implement
social interventions in favour of children and youngsters, with particular attention to
prevention and deviation. Nowadays our interventions are based on: social promotion
and family promotion. We also promote intercultural awareness and international
mobility in the frame of non-formal education and vocational training, in order to
encourage dialogue and cultural interchange of young people and youth workers. Our
activities address to around 2500 children and youngsters and their families, thanks to
70 workers.
Missions/tasks which could be done by the youngster :
There are 2 possible placements:
1) Summer camps
The trainee can work side by side with our educators in one or more summer camps
organised from June to August. These camps offer leisure time and non formal
learning for children and teen-agers through different activities, such as: manual
workshops (handicraft, murales, origami, etc.), musical activities, open air sports and
swimming pool, environmental activities, excursions and trips, theme days, etc..
The trainee can support the activities on the basis of his/her skills and experiences.
2) La Zanzara bar
The trainee can work just by the lake in our new bar called La Zanzara, where we offer
not only food and drinks, but also other activities, such as: cultural events, leisure
time planned for young people and families, organisation of parties, dj-sets, live
music, theme-evenings, workshops, exhibitions, etc.
The trainee will mostly help in the bar-restaurant, but can also be involved in the
organisation of the complementary activities.
Location
The host project will take place in Mantova, a small town rich with history, nature and
architectonical beauty, settled in the centre of the Po Valley (Northern Italy. The climate
in summer is humid and hot. There is a train and a bus station and it is not far from two
airports: Brescia-Montichiari e Verona-Villafranca.
Notes
We are looking for trainees/volunteers who can stay during the summer
Required skills/interests:
• placement number 1) educational competences; basic knowledge of Italian would be
useful.
• placement number 2) flexibility and interpersonal competences; previous experiences
in the field would be useful
