African Leaders of Tomorrow (ALT) Scholarship Program

 African Leaders of Tomorrow (ALT) Scholarship Program Created in honour of the late Nelson Mandela, the ALT Scholarship Program is a new opportunity for African professionals between the ages of 22‐35 years old to become leaders in public policy and administration. Jointly funded by the government of Canada through the Department of Foreign Affairs, Trade and Development (DFATD) and The MasterCard Foundation, the ALT Scholarship Program will grant up to 130 scholarships over a 5 year period (2015 – 2019), to men and women from countries in sub‐Saharan Africa to pursue a Master’s degree in public administration, public policy or public finances in Canada. The program is managed by the Canadian Bureau for International Education (CBIE) in partnership with The Institute of Public Administration of Canada (IPAC), and in collaboration with the Canadian Association of Programs in Public Administration (CAPPA) and the African Association for Public Administration and Management (AAPAM). How can YOU get involved?  Be mentor to an ALT Scholar – share your experience and expertise; support the creation of a professional development plan; identify learning opportunities and be a confidant. 

do/current‐programs/african‐leaders‐of‐tomorrow/ Programme de bourses pour les leaders africains de demain (LAD) Créé en l’honneur de Nelson Mandela, le Programme de bourses LAD offrira la possibilité à de jeunes professionnels africains âgés de 22 à 35 ans de devenir des leaders en matière de politique et d’administration publique. Au cours de cinq ans (2015 – 2019), le Programme de bourses LAD attribuera à des femmes et des hommes de divers pays d’Afrique subsaharienne jusqu’à 130 bourses d’études pour compléter un programme de maîtrise en administration publique, en politiques publiques, ou en finances publiques dans une université canadienne. Ce programme est financé conjointement par le gouvernement du Canada par l’entremise du ministère des Affaires étrangères, Commerce et Développement (MAECD) et de la Fondation MasterCard. Le Programme de bourses LAD est géré par le Bureau canadien de l’éducation internationale (BCEI) en partenariat avec L’Institut d’administration publique du Canada (IAPC), et en collaboration avec l’Association canadienne des programmes en administration publique (ACPAP) et l’Association africaine pour l’administration publique et le management (AAPAM).
