The scientific programme has once again been frame-worked to meet the expectations of the entire community, taking into consideration its different centres of interests, concerns and places of practice. Topics, experts and session formats have been selected to give insights in many fields of dermatology and to offer excellence in education. The programme will feature altogether 2 plenary sessions, 9 workshops, 85 continuing education sessions (FMC in French), 19 forums and over 500 oral and poster presentations; not to be missed will be also the traditional What’s new session on Saturday morning. I am very pleased to announce that this year the number of sessions providing simultaneous interpretation (in English) has been considerably increased: 20 FMC (CME), all plenary sessions, What’s new, Hot topics and latest news in Dermatology. This reflects the JDP goal and will to go beyond boundaries and reach out to experiences and views from more environments. During the JDP, you will have the opportunity to also view the scientific posters (available both on poster boards and electronic format) in dedicated areas and on the “Maison de la Dermatologie” booth. I encourage you to visit the congress web site to discover the full detailed programme and the array of educational and networking activities proposed by the JDP as well as the SFD missions and initiatives: http://www.jdp2014.com On behalf of the French community, I invite you to join us in December to share with us a rich learning experience and establish valuable connections which, I am confident, will continue and flourish after the congress. Yours sincerely Professor Olivier Chosidow President of SFD 2 10-14 décembre 2014 www.jdp2014.com Journées Dermatologues de Paris Porte Maillot Contents Schedule at a glance Sessions simultaneously translated General information and conditions Exhibition Social events Page Page Page Page Page 4 6 20 24 24 Organising Committee Christophe BEDANE (Limoges) Nicolas DUPIN (Paris) Marie-Thérèse LECCIA (Grenoble) Scientific Programme Committee Fabienne LEONARD (Reims) Laurence OLLIVAUD (Charenton-le-Pont) Jean-François STALDER (Nantes) Pierre-Emmanuel STOEBNER (Nîmes) Philippe CELERIER President (La Rochelle) Valérie DOFFOEL-HANTZ (Limoges) Anne DOMPMARTIN (Caen) Nathalie GRAL (Grenoble) François HABIB (Avignon) Abstracts Reviewing Committee Frédéric AUGEY (Pierre Bénite) Frédéric CAUX Président (Bobigny) Patrick COMBEMALE (Lyon) Alain DUPUY (Rennes) Caroline GAUDY MARQUESTE (Marseille) Smaïl HADJ-RABIA (Paris) Thomas JOUARY (Bordeaux) Laurent MORTIER (Lille) Philippe MUSETTE (Rouen) Saskia ORO (Créteil) Antoine PETIT (Paris) Patricia SENET (Paris) Key date 07 November 2014 Advance registration deadline 3 Palais des Congrès English 09-13 December 2014 4 14h00 or 14h15 15h30 or 15h45 18h00 - 19h00 Satellite symposium Satellite symposium FMC (CME) 79 : Cutaneous adverse effects of targeted therapies in oncology FMC (CME) 85 : Lymphedema in children FMC (CME) 74 - 75 - 76 - 77 - 78 - 80 - 81 82 - 83 - 84 Forum 19 Posters presentation discussion Session 2 FMC (CME) 68 : Pigmentation disorders FMC (CME) 69 : Toxidermia: News on causality assessment, new alerts FMC (CME) 64 - 65 - 66 - 67 - 70 - 71 - 72 - 73 Forum 15 (continued) - 18 Posters presentation discussion Session 1 Schedule at a glance FMC (CME) 49 : 2014 News in Psoriasis FMC (CME) 54 : Skin and GI tract FMC (CME) 47 - 48 - 50 - 51 - 52 - 53 - 55 - 56 Forum 13 - 14 Oral communications FMC (CME) 43 : Various forms of scabies FMC (CME) 46 : Managing bacterial skin infections: The keys to using antibiotics wisely FMC (CME) 38 - 39 - 40 - 41 - 42 - 44 - 45 Forum 11 - 12 EF1 Oral communications Workshop 9 (continued) FMC (CME) 18 : Inflammatory dermatoses or autoinflammatory diseases: Diagnosing neutrophil infiltration FMC (CME) 21 : Managing vitiligo combined with one or more autoimmune diseases FMC (CME) 16 - 17 - 18 - 19 - 20 - 22 - 23 Forum 5 - 6 Special session (to be continued) Oral communications Satellite symposium Plenary Sessions : - State-of-the-art Gene Therapy in 2014 Pierre Hainaut - Metabolism, Ageing and Cancer Marina Cavazzana Forum 15 (continued) Journées Dermatologues de Paris 16h15 - 17h45 or 18h00 SATURDAY 13 DECEMBER 09-13 December 2014 Workshop 9 (continued) FMC (CME) 25 : Tanning addiction and tanning beds FMC (CME) 28 : How to manage nail tumors in adults? CAUMES, V. DESCAMPS, P. DEL GIUDICE Moderator: F. CARSUZAA General presentation: Anti-infective therapies must address a three-fold challenge: - Adapt to germ evolution and plasticity, be they conventional or emerging germs, and to the unique features of susceptible individuals (age, immune status, comorbidities). - Reduce and prevent resistance, particularly to antibiotics (2011-2016 National Alert Plan) and antiparasitics. - Be part of a cost-control and sustainable development approach. Objectives: - Advance current anti-infective therapeutic strategies by dermatologists against common community-acquired infections. - Review future anti-infective therapies. Learning outcomes: - Know the main anti-infective agents available and their modes of prescription: dosage, duration of treatment, adverse effects. - Know their indications. ▼ 09h00 – 10h30 FMC (CME) 3 Recurrent mouth ulcers C. FRANCES, M. PIRAM, M. SAMIMI General presentation: Recurrent aphthous stomatitis is a multifactorial disease common in the general population. Suitable management entails recognizing the various clinical forms and differentiating them from other types of recurring oral lesions. In order to provide the most appropriate treatment plan, one must also be able to identify or rule out the inflammatory, dysimmune, infectious or deficiency-related diseases that may emerge or combine with recurrent aphthous stomatitis. 8 Objectives: 1/ Review management of idiopathic mouth ulcers. 2/ Know which diseases are evoked by recurrent aphthous stomatitis in children and adults, and discuss the clinical approach, choice of additional tests and treatment plan. 3/ Recognize differential diagnoses for mouth ulcers, based on clinical cases. Learning outcomes: After this session, the dermatologist should be able to identify the clinical elements suggestive of a disease associated with recurring mouth ulcers, request appropriate additional tests and know the main treatment strategies. 10-14 décembre 2014 Wednesday, December 10 Journées Dermatologues de Paris Porte Maillot Palais des Congrès ▼ 11h00 – 12h30 FMC (CME) 10 Optimizing safety and efficacy of conventional systemic treatments and biotherapies for psoriasis F. AUBIN, H. BACHELEZ, N. BENETON - Coordinator: M. VIGUIER On behalf of «Groupe de Recherche sur le Psoriasis de la Société Française de Dermatologie» General presentation: The therapeutic armamentarium for treating psoriasis has expanded considerably in recent years with the emergence of biotherapeutics, and will continue to grow in the years to come. However, conventional treatments for psoriasis remain highly instrumental in managing this chronic disease. The use of biotherapeutics is governed by wellestablished rules of prescription, one prerequisite being failure to respond to two prior systemic treatments such as methotrexate, cyclosporine or phototherapy. In addition, gradual tachyphylaxis to biotherapeutics is frequently observed. For the benefit of the patient, it is therefore essential to make the most of each therapeutic strategy, should systemic treatment of psoriasis become necessary. Objectives: After reviewing the goals of treatment for psoriasis, we will look at each of the following treatments. Depending on the clinical form, we will determine when to assess efficacy and how to increase efficacy while maintaining optimum safety through increased dosage, alternate route of administration, related measures, combination therapy, increased frequency of administration, rotational strategies, and so forth. - Acitretin (F. Aubin) - Phototherapy (F. Aubin) - Methotrexate (N. Bénéton) - Cyclosporine (N. Bénéton) - Anti-TNF, anti IL-12/IL-23 agents (H. Bachelez) Learning outcomes: After this CME course, participants will know how to prescribe the most appropriate systemic treatments for psoriasis, in order to optimize the efficacy / safety balance in real life conditions. ▼ 11h00 – 12h30 FMC (CME) 12 Controversies about sunscreens: Are sunscreens and antioxidant supplements risky? What should we tell our patients? J.C.BEANI, C. BEDANE, M.T. LECCIA General presentation: What resources are currently available for appropriate sun protection of adults and children? Are sunscreens effective and what are the limits to their use? Should oral antioxidants be recommended? Are there other sun protection strategies? Objectives: - Respond to growing patient concerns about the risks of sunlight exposure, the real or imagined risks pertaining to sunscreens, and what we can expect from existing sun protection methods based on available scientific evidence. - Recommend and select sun protection methods suitable for specific individuals (age, phototype, desired protection level) and sunlight conditions. Each theoretical talk will be illustrated by hands-on clinical cases. 9 Learning outcomes: - Know the side effects, expected benefits and limitations of various sun protection methods in terms of acute and chronic sun damage. - Clearly differentiate between sun protection for children or teenagers, and for adults. - Provide individual advice to patients based on their personal characteristics, environment and sun-protection expectations. English 09-13 December 2014 English 10-14 décembre 2014 Wednesday, December 10 09-13 December 2014 Journées Dermatologues de Paris Porte Maillot Palais des Congrès ▼ 14h15 – 15h45 FMC (CME) 18 Inflammatory dermatoses or autoinflammatory diseases: Diagnosing neutrophil infiltration S. ORO, N. ORTONNE, E. SBIDIAN Moderator: H. BACHELEZ General presentation: Many clinically polymorphic dermatoses are characterized by a neutrophil-rich skin infiltrate. The cutaneous lesions may be the result of neutrophilic dermatosis, whether standalone or indicative of an underlying inflammatory or hematological disorder. The lesions may also be part of a complex systemic involvement such as the recently isolated monogenic autoinflammatory syndromes. Therefore, diagnosing a neutrophil infiltration of the skin requires the cross-referencing of clinical, histological, biological and, possibly, genetic testing data. The clinical and histological characterization of elementary lesions, be they associated with extra-cutaneous manifestations or not, helps to achieve a diagnosis or, at least, narrow down possibilities. Objectives: - Present various forms of neutrophilic dermatosis through hands-on, interactive clinical cases. - Guide dermatologists in their discussions and bring to their attention a number of proposed pathological and biological investigations to advance diagnosis. Reiterate the important role played by these examinations and diagnostic algorithms. - Review auto-inflammatory syndromes. Learning outcomes: - Advancing the diagnosis of neutrophilic dermatosis. - Interpreting pathology data. . ▼ 14h15 – 15h45 FMC (CME) 21 Managing vitiligo combined with one or more autoimmune diseases L. BENZEKRI, K. EZZEDINE, Y. GAUTHIER General presentation: The combination of vitiligo with certain autoimmune / auto-inflammatory diseases such as varied dermatoses and systemic, most often polyendocrine, disorders, has been extensively demonstrated genetically and epidemiologically. 10 Objectives: The goal of this CME course is to identify which autoimmune disorders are likely to be significantly associated with vitiligo and to assess the impact of such associations on choice of tests, prognosis and proposed treatments. Learning outcomes: Having explored one or more associated autoimmune diseases in the course of this session, the participants should know the impact of such associations, their shared pathogenic connections and their nosological frameworks. Dermatologists should also be able to order laboratory work-ups and propose a treatment for vitiligo, considering both preferred indications and contraindications. 10-14 décembre 2014 Wednesday, December 10 Journées Dermatologues de Paris Porte Maillot Palais des Congrès ▼ 16h15 – 17h45 FMC (CME) 25 Tanning addiction and tanning beds M. BONIOL, Ay. PETIT, E. MAHE On behalf of «Société Française de Photodermatologie (SFPD)» General presentation: With the rising incidence of skin cancer, the use of tanning beds has been incriminated as a skin carcinogenic factor. According to data from Europe and America, indoor tanning is increasingly popular. France is catching up in the tanning salon « market », with figures showing that more than 10% of French people used tanning beds in 2010. Meanwhile, regulations are changing nationally and internationally. Objectives: The goal of this CME course is to provide a 2014 update on tanning beds, risk/benefit, epidemiology in France and consumer profiles. We will look at: - Proven health risks and possible benefits of using tanning beds, - Epidemiology of tanning-bed users in France, with cross-country comparisons, - Profiles of tanning-bed addicts, - Update on regulatory changes. Learning outcomes: By the end of the session, participants will know the risk / benefit ratio of using tanning beds. The course will provide updates on regulations and epidemiology, allowing for a better understanding of indoor tanning consumer profiles. ▼ 16h15 – 17h45 FMC (CME) 28 How to manage nail tumors in adults? V. BLATIERE, O. COGREL, E. DUHARD Under the hospices of «Groupe Chirurgical de la Société Française de Dermatologie» General presentation: Nail tumors are common. Though clinical signs may be deceiving, nail tumors are most often diagnosed clinically and managed surgically. This richly illustrated session will review the main tumors affecting the nail apparatus in frequent clinical situations. Simple but key surgical management techniques will be addressed in detail. 11 Objectives: Review the various structures of the nail apparatus where tumors may originate. Know the main semiological aspects of nail tumors and identify the features indicating a benign or malignant origin. Learn management strategies and key surgical techniques. The main goal is to capitalize on photographic / imaging data from experienced practitioners to help participants detect serious tumors requiring prompt management. Learning outcomes: After this course, participants will find it easier to distinguish malignant from benign tumors and will be familiar with existing management strategies for tumors of the nail apparatus. English 09-13 December 2014 English 10-14 décembre 2014 Thursday, December 11 09-13 December 2014 Journées Dermatologues de Paris Porte Maillot Palais des Congrès ▼ 09h00 – 10h30 FMC (CME) 30 Optimizing diagnosis and management of aggressive or advanced basal cell carcinoma M. BEYLOT-BARRY, J.M. AMICI, B. CRIBIER General presentation: Basal cell carcinoma (BCC) is the most common type of skin cancer. Management of most BCCs is simple and well established, with surgery as the first line of treatment. However, aggressive or advanced BCC may be difficult to differentiate from adnexal carcinoma. Another issue is the limits of surgery, where special expertise is required, warranting a discussion of additional or alternative treatments. Objectives: We start by defining what aggressive or advanced BCC means. Surgical options are then illustrated, on the basis of tumor type, location and progression, as well as surgical expertise. We will also discuss the role of alternative or combined treatments such as radiation therapy and Hedgehog signaling pathway inhibitors. The differential diagnosis for aggressive BCC (adnexal carcinoma) will be discussed, along with the impact of diagnosis on patient management. Learning outcomes: Acquiring tools for critical analysis plus understanding current advances, to improve diagnosis and management of aggressive or advanced BCC. ▼ 09h00 – 10h30 FMC (CME) 34 In what ways do new treatments for metastatic melanoma alter patient management? B. DRENO, M.T. LECCIA, B. GUILLOT General presentation: Treatment of metastatic melanoma has changed considerably in recent years. Ipilimumab, an anti-CTLA4 antibody, was granted marketing authorization in France as a second-line treatment and just received marketing authorization in the EU as a first-line treatment. BRAF inhibitors vemurafenib and dabrafenib are now available as targeted therapies. These treatments are undergoing trials as adjunct therapies. New regimens with other targeted therapies (MEK or cKIT inhibitors) or other immunotherapies (antiPD1 antibodies) are in the pipeline. The advent of targeted therapies brings about new management techniques for tumor samples (tissue banks) and mutation detection kits (genetics platforms). New decision trees for treatment are also 12 being established for each stage of the disease. New arrangements for patient follow-up are necessary after melanoma was recently branded a « chronic disease ». This means strengthening ties between private and hospital dermatologists, particularly via community / hospital networks. Lastly, new side effects must be managed, requiring specific therapeutic education to empower patients, and proper collaboration between patients and physicians. As treatment is often available on an outpatient basis, management of side effects must be provided at the doctor’s practice, in line with patient expectations. Objectives: Interactive clinical cases are presented for discussion of treatment choices in adjunct and curative settings. Decision trees will be used in these clinical cases for treatment of various types of metastatic melanoma. Other topics for discussion include managing the side effects of new treatments and the importance of therapeutic education. Learning outcomes: Familiarity with new treatments for melanoma; discussing new decision trees; managing tumor samples for targetedtherapy purposes; knowing the side effects of new treatments and how to manage them; the resulting need for therapeutic education. Interactive keypad session 10-14 décembre 2014 Thursday, December 11 Journées Dermatologues de Paris Porte Maillot Palais des Congrès ▼ 14h15 – 15h45 FMC (CME) 43 Various forms of scabies F. BORALEVI, J.L. PERROT, C. BUZENET Moderator: O. CHOSIDOW General presentation: Scabies is a fairly routine reason for consulting a dermatologist. The clinical presentation may be deceiving and there are many therapeutic difficulties – for example, with infantile scabies, profuse and community-acquired forms. Objectives: Dermatologists must remain experts in human scabies. Based on clinical cases, guidelines and comments on research, the presenters propose methods for perfecting diagnosis using clinical practice and morphological examination, plus treatment options in common, everyday practice in mainland France. The session will also focus on hyperkeratotic and infantile forms, as well as scabies in developing countries. Learning outcomes: Knowing the sometimes misleading clinical presentations indicative of human scabies; shoring up a clinical diagnosis using suitable diagnostic methods; establishing a treatment plan and providing useful guidance to patients and their loved ones. ▼ 14h15 – 15h45 FMC (CME) 46 Managing bacterial skin infections: The keys to using antibiotics wisely B. SASSOLAS, S. ANSART, D. TANDE General presentation: There are frequent, new developments in microbial ecology - such as the emergence of MRSA in cities - as well as new investigative tools in bacteriology. Management of bacterial skin infections must adapt to those changes, both for diagnosis and treatment. 13 Objectives: Train and assist clinical dermatologists to use both clinical and bacteriological data in their practice. Based on clinical observations, this CME session seeks to provide dermatologists with an update on existing diagnostic tools. These tools will provide the knowledge base to fuel treatment-planning discussions for simple or complex bacterial skin infections. Differential diagnosis is also addressed. Learning outcomes: This course will give participants an update on the contribution of laboratory work-ups to management of bacterial skin infections. It also provides guidance on managing fever presumably caused by infection. The overarching goal is to promote wiser use of antibiotics. BEYLOT-BARRY, D. JULLIEN, M.A. RICHARD On behalf of «Recherche sur le Psoriasis de la Société Française de Dermatologie» General presentation: The abundance of literature on psoriasis (over 3,000 PUBMED references in 2013) shows the extent of the medical and scientific community’s interest in the disease and its epidemiological, physiopathological, clinical, therapeutic and even societal ramifications. Objectives: In this CME session, three authors active in the field of psoriasis will present participants with a selection of papers. They will review and comment on major 2014 publications on psoriasis, targeting those useful to the daily practice of dermatology. Priority topics include the latest developments in physiopathology and individualized psoriasis phenotypes, plus therapeutic advances in conventional systemic treatments, small molecules, IL17 inhibitors, and JAK inhibitors. Other topics include the use of clinical and epidemiological data to provide patients a multidisciplinary approach to daily management of psoriasis. Learning outcomes: Improve routine, hands-on management of psoriasis by both private and hospital dermatologists. ▼ 16h15 – 17h45 FMC (CME) 54 Skin and GI tract F. AUBIN, E. DELAPORTE, V. DESCAMPS General presentation: There are many interactions between Dermatology and Hepato-Gastroenterology such as liver diseases, Biermer’s anemia, celiac disease, dermatitis herpetiformis, psoriasis, Verneuil’s disease, chronic intestinal inflammatory diseases, pancreatopathies, and so forth. Dermatologists may sometimes suspect a GI involvement and, conversely, may be asked to manage the cutaneous manifestations of GI disorders. 14 Objectives: This CME session seeks to address the two clinical questions below: - When does a dermatologist need a gastroenterologist? - When does a gastroenterologist need a dermatologist? Interactive clinical cases will serve as examples of diagnostic and therapeutic management. Learning outcomes: By the end of the session, participants will know which skin manifestations suggest GI disease and which additional tests are necessary to confirm the diagnosis. As dermatologists, they will know how to respond to requests from their HepatoGastroenterology colleagues for managing the cutaneous manifestations of GI disorders. PELLETIER, L. MARTIN General presentation: Bradykinin-mediated angioedemas (BKmediated AE) are no longer considered as rare forms of angioedema. The inherited forms of the disease are better known and, therefore, easier to recognize. Many drug families are now found to be responsible for the iatrogenic forms (CEI’s, gliptins, estrogen contraceptives… ). There are many new developments in BK-mediated AE and dermatologists are involved in advancing clinical, nosological and therapeutic knowledge. Objectives: This CME course will provide abundant illustrations of skin manifestations (edema of the face, genitals or abdominal wall, occasional rash) and non-skin manifestations (ENT or GI edema…). The goal is to discuss bradykinin mediation in angioedema and show how BK-mediated AE is now classified based on mechanism of onset. We will review the treatments available for acute attacks (icatibant, C1inhibitor concentrate) or for long-term prophylaxis (tranexamic acid, progesterone…). Learning outcomes: - Recognize bradykinin mediation in AE. - Differentiate between inherited and iatrogenic BK-mediated AE. ▼ 11h00 – 12h30 FMC (CME) 63 Condyloma and intraepithelial neoplasia: Is a work-up necessary? If so, which one? O. AYNAUD, D. KOTTLER, J. CHANAL Moderator: N. DUPIN General presentation: This CME course provides an update on whether or not condyloma patients require a work-up. Another topic is what to tell patients and their partners. 15 Objectives: This CME course will address the pros and cons of performing additional tests such as anoscopy, or HPV detection through molecular biology, in male or female patients with anogenital condyloma or intraepithelial neoplasia, as well as in their partners. Learning outcomes: Performing and prescribing examinations for patients with condyloma or intraepithelial neoplasia. Managing the patient’s partner. Knowing what to say depending on the circumstances. CHIAVERINI, J.Ph. LACOUR, T. PASSERON General presentation: There is more to pigmentation disorders than just melasma or vitiligo. Dermatoses that manifest through pigmentary problems are fairly routine in daily pediatric and adult practice. This raises frequent diagnostic and/or therapeutic issues. Objectives: The goal of this CME session is to discuss hands-on, interactive clinical cases as stepping stones for diagnosis and treatment planning of pigmentary dermatoses. Learning outcomes: Recognizing pigmentary disorders. Suggesting optimum treatment for these various forms of dermatosis. ▼ 14h15 – 15h45 FMC (CME) 69 Toxidermia: News on causality assessment, new alerts B. LEVRUN-VIGNES, B. SASSOLAS, C. HADDAD - Moderator: B. MILPIED On behalf of «RegiSCAR France» General presentation: The skin is where most adverse drug reactions are manifested. Marketing new agents requires constant alert updates, allowing for primary or secondary prevention strategies. Dermatologists are on the front lines of diagnosing toxidermia and detecting the drug responsible. This makes them instrumental in working with individual patients and, on a collective scale, issuing post-marketing drug safety alerts. In the event of rare and/or severe toxidermia, having an EU-level network (RegiSCAR) for case detection and validation makes a key contribution to disseminating information on toxidermia. 16 Objectives: 1. Practical update on dermatological expertise in two areas: - Causality assessment based on clinical cases, - Organising alerts nationally and internationally. 2. News on alerts. Learning outcomes: After this session, participants will be able to identify the agent(s) suspected of causing the toxidermia and decide whether or not to continue the course of treatment. They will be able to initiate and help organize the alert. DEREURE, A. DU THANH, C. GIRARD General presentation: So-called « targeted » therapies currently account for the bulk of cancer treatments, particularly for skin cancer, and are increasingly used as first-line treatments. However, their use may be restricted due to mucocutaneous adverse effects being extremely common and often highly specific. Therefore, dermatologists are called upon regularly to manage these adverse effects, which can be extremely hard on patients, and also to adjust the treatment causing them. Objectives: Based on hands-on examples, this CME course will review the most common and/or troublesome mucocutaneous adverse effects of various « targeted » therapy classes currently used in oncology, particularly against skin cancer. The goal is to enable practitioners to identify these adverse effects, assess their severity and manage them, both cutaneously and as part of a broader therapeutic strategy. Learning outcomes: Knowing and recognizing the mucocutaneous adverse effects of « targeted » cancer therapies; provide guidance to patients and to prescribing oncologists, particularly based on 2014 guideline updates. ▼ 16h15 – 17h45 FMC (CME) 85 Lymphedema in children L. MARTIN, X. DERIES, A. MARUANI With the participation of F. VEAUX, physiotherapist General presentation: Dermatologists are all too familiar with primary or secondary forms of voluminous lymphedema (LE) that are refractory to all treatment options in some adults. Yet, this can remedied! Early, intensive management reduces the development of edema and related tissue damage. It is, therefore, very important to diagnose the disorder early in life. Some genetically determined, primary forms of LE start in childhood or adolescence. 17 Objectives: This CME course will look at the genetics and physiopathology of pediatric LE, either standalone or combined with other disorders of the skin (yellow nail syndrome), blood vessels (KlippelTrenaunay Syndrome) or GI tract. We will review the early skin signs leading to LE diagnosis and the necessary examinations for achieving strict and suitable management. Lastly, we will show how to prescribe and monitor lymphatic compression treatment, in order to maintain LE reversibility over the years. Learning outcomes: - Recognize LE in children and look for extra-cutaneous signs to determine diagnosis and etiology. - Prescribe and monitor physical treatment of LE through lymphatic drainage followed by compression bands or stockings.
