The Langevin Institute –Ondes et Images has for many years a strong activity in medical imaging.
Being part of the INSERM unit U979 “Wave Physics for Medicine and Biology”, we have developed
these last years, some new different ultrasound methods in order to help physicians to improve their
diagnosis. During this post-doc, these new techniques (shear wave elastography, ultrafast Bmode
compound imaging), will be used in biomedical project about muscle stiffness and tendon stiffness
assessment. The goal is to create new ultrasound imaging sequences to assess tendon stiffness and
anisotropy. The project will be conducted at the Langevin Institute in Paris and cut in two parts: first
to develop a dedicated ultrasound sequence and implement it in the ultrafast ultrasound device;
secondly to follow a clinical protocol in collaboration with physiologist, compute the obtained data
and performed statistical analysis on the patient cohort. The project takes parts of an ANR grant
(Agence Nationale pour la Recherche, French grant - Ultraswift).
The candidate will be mostly in charge to build and implement new ultrasound sequence for this new
application. To realize computational algorithm to calculate results automatically. The post doc will be
also in charge of the collaboration between physiologist and physicist to conduct a clinical protocol on
healthy sportive people.
Financial conditions are based on the CNRS (French National Center for Scientific Research)
postdoctoral grants, and depend on the years of experience of the candidate.
This project requires a good knowledge in ultrasound imaging and ultrasound techniques, as well as
interface codes between apparatus and PC. Applicants interested in this project can send a CV,
motivation letter, and eventually recommendation letters to Jean-Luc Gennisson.
