Medical insurance (Securite sociale) After 1st letter with a pay sheet (“Bulletin de salaire” or “Fiche de paye”) fill the document on www.ameli.fr: http://www.ameli.fr/fileadmin/user_upload/formulaires/S1104.pdf The office of “Assurance Maladie” is located: « Caisse primaire d'assurance maladie (CPAM) du Bas-Rhin » 16 Rue de Lausanne, Strasbourg , from 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Go there with all the documents and wait about 5-6 months. If any additional documents are needed, CPAM writes you a letter. If the revenue of you and/or your family living in France is low, you can ask for help of French association called CAF (for details – www.caf.fr) 3. Taxes (Impots) Your real salary will be about 80% of that written in your contract. Every month you receive a document (“Bulletin de salaire”), in which you can find the taxes that you pay. Once a year you need to pay a tax for house (about 1 month rent) and a corporate tax (about 1 month salary). 4. Health Telephone of ambulance: 112 (English speaking) or 15 The medical insurance covers 80% of medical treatment. You can buy a complementary insurance (“mutuelle”) that covers the rest 20%. 1) You pay yourself to a doctor or in a pharmacy. 2a) If you have “Carte vitale” (from “Assurance Maladie”), you present it immediately, and in 3-4 days you receive the money on your banc account. 2b) If you don’t have “Carte vitale”, the doctor or the pharmacist gives you a document “Feuille de soin”. You should fill it and send to CPAM. After several weeks you have the compensation on your account. You need to choose a doctor (“generaliste”), who can treat your general health problems and send you to other specialists for a special treatment. Yourself you can take an appointment with only ophthalmologist, gynecologist and children's doctor. 5. Sport activities. University offers you a possibility to do some sport activities for a little price. When you pay for your registration in UdS, ask about “Sport” (the price for 1 year is about 15€). On the site https://ent.unistra.fr/ you can log-in with your login and password from UdS. Then choose “Mon dossier” – “Pratique sportive – SUAPS” – “Mon panier” – “Choisirs des activites” After choosing the wanted sport click on “horaires” (schedule) and choose the day and time. 6. Language opportunities. If you don’t speak French – feel free to take the courses of French in “Université populaire” (UP) http://www.u-populaire-europeenne.com/pdf/interieurlivret1112.pdf The price – 20€ fee + 95€ for year (once a week). To subscribe – go to the campus of “Brandt Universite” (9 Place de l'Université, Strasbourg). In UP you can take courses of other languages, arts and activities. You can look for other organizations (SPIRAL etc.). 7. Courses in University. To have your PhD in UdS you need to follow some courses, that could be devided on 1) non-scientific courses (“formations transversales”) 2) courses and conferences in chemistry and related subjects. Look on the site of your “Ecole doctorale” about the amount of hours that is for you. To subscribe for the non-special courses use site: http://www-college-des-ecoles-doctorales.u-strasbg.fr/ Announces for the conferences and courses in chemistry you can find on the site of ICS or other institutes or departments. 8. Transport. To travel on bus and tram in Strasbourg, use tickets or student card (Badgeo) (22€/month for < 26 y. o., 44€/month for ≥ 26 y. o.) http://www.cts-strasbourg.fr/en/Fares/Badgeo.aspx 50% of the price can be compensated by the organization that pays you the salary (ask Virginie Oberlé about the form to fill). Shops and organizations are closed on sundays. Ask the secretary about the appointment (“Rendez-vous”, or RDV) with the director of Ecole Doctorale. 5. Administrative registration and payment for study (about 400€ for 1 year). 6. After the president of UdS has signed the papers, you receive the student’s card.
