Das Berliner Andromeda Mega Express Orchestra besteht aus 18
jungen Musikern unterschiedlichster musikalischer und kultureller
Herkunft. Gegründet 2006, spielt diese außergewöhnliche Formation Kompositionen des Ensembleleiters und Saxophonisten Daniel
Glatzel.
Seine Musik passt in keine Schublade, changiert zwischen Jazz und Neuer
Musik mit kräftigen Griffen in die traditionelle Zitatenkiste, voll verblüffender,

Nach dem großen Erfolg bei Presse und Publikum der ersten beiden Alben Take Off! (2009) und BUM BUM (2012, beide alien transistor) bleibt das Andromeda Mega Express Orchestra mit seinem
dritten Album Live on Planet Earth zuverlässig unberechenbar. Die
Ausnahmeformation löst sich aus der Sicherheit des Studios und
zementiert mit seiner Live-Platte vor Publikum seinen Ruf als eine

About
Berlin’s Andromeda Mega Express Orchestra is made up of 18
young musicians with a multiplicity of musical and cultural roots.
Founded in 2006, the formation plays the ensemble director and
saxophonist Daniel Glatzel’s compositions.
His music defies musical categorization, sparkling between Jazz and New Music with musical quotes of traditional works – full of staggering, crazy changes

After the incredible success of the first albums Take Off! (2009)
and BUM BUM (2012, both alien transistor) the Andromeda Mega
Express Orchestra remains reliably unpredictable with their third
album Live on Planet Earth (2014). Here, the exceptional formation
leaves the safe studio environment behind and enters the stage
to underscore and reaffirm its position as one of the leading large
ensembles for extravagant soundscapes of everyday life.
Cooperations with The Notwist (The Devil, You and Me, Music No

In terms of opening up new musical paths at Jazzfest Berlin, most striking

A propos
L‘ensemble berlinois Andromeda Mega Express Orchestra est
composé de 18 jeunes musiciens d‘horizons culturels et musicaux
très différents. Fondé en 2006, cette formation atypique joue des
compositions du directeur musical et saxophoniste Daniel Glatzel.
Sa musique ne se range dans aucune case, varie entre jazz et musique
nouvelle, pioche allègrement dans la boîte à citations, c‘est plein de tournures
folles et épatantes, rempli d‘une ironie rafraîchissante.

de formations francaises telles que le MegaOctet d’andy Emler, notamment
dans le traitement des percussions (Maria Schneider) associées à la batterie
(Andi Haberl) et la présence de citations du répertoire classique, ou DPZ (Daniel Zimmermann et Thomas de Pourquery), à travers la transformation des
cuivres en instruments rock, ou encore le Sacre du Tympan de Fred Pallem, à
cause de son amour du collage et de la musique parodique.
Il est admirable enfin d’observer la cohésion extraordinaire des musiciens et
musiciennes de cet ensemble, dont la personnalité est le fil rouge qui permet
de ne pas se perdre au milieu de tous ces entrelacs stylistiques. De bout en
bout, cet album est jubilatoire.

BUM BUM (2012, tous deux chez Alien Transistor), acclamés par le
public et la presse, AMEO est, avec son troisième album Live On
Planet Earth, toujours aussi imprévisible. La formation d‘exception
s‘éloigne du confort des studios et confirme sur son album live sa
réputation, comme l‘un des principaux grands ensembles européens en matière d‘extravagance sonore de la vie de tous les jours.
