LES HOMMES ET GARÇONS ACADIENS DE L’ÎLE EN VEDETTE AU MUSÉE ACADIEN
Le Musée acadien, à Miscouche, vous invite à célébrer la fête des Pères en assistant à l’ouverture de la
nouvelle exposition « Les hommes acadiens de l’Île », le dimanche 16 juin, à 14 h. Cette exposition comprend
de belles vieilles photos prises entre 1895 et 1960 qui proviennent d’albums de famille des diverses régions
acadiennes de l’Île. L’ouverture officielle sera déclarée par Père Eloi Arsenault. Une réception suivra.
L’exposition sera en montre jusqu’à la fin d’octobre.
A TRIBUTE TO ISLAND ACADIAN MEN AND BOYS AT THE ACADIAN MUSEUM
The Acadian Museum, in Miscouche, invites you to celebrate Father’s Day by attending the opening of the new
exhibition “Island Acadian Men” on Sunday, June 16th, at 2:00 p.m. This exhibition features beautiful old
photographs dating from 1895 to 1960 which come from family albums from the various Acadian regions of the
Island. The exhibition will be officially opened by Father Eloi Arsenault. A reception will follow. The exhibition will
be on display until the end of October.

 Don’t miss this great evening of Tunes and Tales with Patrick Ledwell and musical guest, Richard Wood, on

ST. LOUIS COMMUNITY CENTER – NIGHT OF MUSIC

ROYAL STAR FOODS - TIGNISH FISHERIES
The hours of operation for the Fishmart are Sunday, from 12:00 to 5:00 p.m., Monday to Friday, from 9:00
a.m. to 5:30 p.m., and Saturday, from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. We have fresh lobsters, oysters, mussels,
quahogs, fresh frozen bar clams, and fresh fish.
TIGNISH TREASURE GIFT SHOP
The Tignish Treasure Gift Shop is getting ready to open for another season. We are looking for high quality
hand crafted items to take on consignment: sewing, knitting, paintings, woodwork, etc. Items can be dropped off
this week at our shop, located at 100 School Street, between the hours of 8:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. and 1:00
p.m. to 4:30 p.m.

 Irish Moss Youth Golf Tournament on Thursday, June 27th, beginning with chipping and putting contest at
12:15 p.m., followed by tournament.
 The GBS Junior Program begins on Wednesday, July 3rd. There will be two weekly sessions. On
Wednesdays, the first group will start at 10:00 a.m. (note time change), followed by the second group at
11:00 a.m., etc. Then on Sundays, the first group will start at 1:00 p.m. followed by second group at 2:00
p.m., etc. The whole program will take place in July as the instructor is not available in August. Call for more
information.




L’ASSEMBLÉE ANNUELLE DE L’ASSOCIATION DU MUSÉE ACADIEN DE L’Î.-P.-É.
L’assemblée annuelle de l’Association du Musée acadien de l’Î.-P.-É. aura lieu au Musée acadien, à Miscouche,
le mardi 18 juin, à 19 h. Suite à la réunion d’affaires, le conférencier invité Georges Arsenault fera une
présentation intitulée « Il y a 50 ans, on se préparait à fonder le Musée acadien ». L’assemblée se terminera par
la remise annuelle du Prix La Petite Nyctale et un goûter.
COMMUNITY OF TIGNISH
Youth of the Year and Citizen of the Year forms can be picked up at the Recreation Office, in Tignish. The
deadline for application is Thursday, June 20th.
TIGNISH HOME AND SCHOOL ASSOCIATION
The Tignish Home and School Association is once again offering our Summer Reading Program during the
months of July and August to all students registered in the area. This program is available to all students for
a summer fee of $20. Students can work on any number of areas such as reading, math, French, etc. The
student tutor will work with your child based on their needs. It is a great opportunity to keep up their skills during
the summer months. Each week is a one hour one-on-one session. To sign up, please contact Teena

ST. LOUIS BLUEGRASS & OLDTIME MUSIC CAMPOUT
 There will be Jams every Friday at 8:00 p.m. at the St. Louis Community Center. Door prize and light lunch
will be served. Admission is $3. Come and enjoy or play good acoustic music.
 The St. Louis Bluegrass & Oldtime Music Campout will take place on June 28th, 29th, and 30th. For more

TIGNISH HEALTH CENTRE ANNUAL GOLF TOURNAMENT
 We would like to invite you to put in a team for the Tignish Health Centre’s Annual Golf Tournament at the St.
Felix Golf & Country Club. The tournament will take place on Sunday, June 23rd, with a shotgun start at
10:00 a.m. Four-person best ball. There will be prizes and a barbecue to follow. 50/50 tickets will be sold.
You can register a team by calling the St. Felix Golf & Country Club at 882-2328. We hope you can come
out for a morning of fun and support the Health Centre.
 The Tignish Health Centre will be holding its annual Motorcycle Run on Sunday, July 14th. Registration is
at 12:30 p.m. and the Run will be leaving the Health Centre at 1:00 p.m. Prizes and food to follow. The
Health Centre is a very important part of our community and surrounding areas. Please come out and
support this great cause.
9th ANNUAL BENNIE BERNARD MEMORIAL 6 KM RUN/WALK
The 9 Annual Bennie Bernard Memorial 6 km Run/Walk (3 km run for kids 10 and under) will be held on
Sunday, June 23rd, at 1:30 p.m. at the Immaculate Conception Church in Palmer Road. Registration fee is $5
and proceeds from Run will go to the Church. Registration will be before the Run. No bikes or roller blades
(strollers or wagons are permitted for kids). The Run will take place rain or shine. For more information, please

BENEFIT NIGHT – CLOHOSSEY
A benefit night for Shawn Clohossey, son of Barry and Darlene Clohossey, will be held on Sunday, June 23rd,
beginning at 7:00 p.m. at the Tignish Legion. There will be local talent, cake auction, fudge sale, 50/50, as
well as an auction of items donated by businesses. Since June 1 st, Shawn is living in an apartment in Toronto
and has to be ready to go to Toronto General Hospital at a moment’s notice when donor lungs become available
and this could possibly take up to a year. Following surgery, the hospital recovery is another three or four
months. Shawn received a double lung transplant in 2005 but his lungs started to fail again and in February
2013, he was told he needed a second double lung transplant. Please come out and show your support!

We, the family of the late Noreen Perry, would like to thank Fr. Brandon Gallant for the beautiful funeral service.
To the West Prince Funeral Co-op for their professionalism, all who made phone calls, sent flowers, sympathy
cards, e-mails, mass cards, and to those who brought food to our homes. Thanks to the CWL for their prayers
and the lunch after the funeral and those who opened and closed the grave. May God bless you all.

The family of the late Aubin Richard would like to express our sincere thank you to family, relatives, and friends
for all your support and many acts of kindness shown to us. Many thanks to those who called, sent cards, emails, visited, brought food, sent flowers, gave charitable donations, and attended the wake and funeral
services. Special thanks to the staff of Rooney Funeral Home for their professional services and compassion, to
Fr. Brendon Gallant and Fr. Jacques Rigaud, the choir of St. Simon & St. Jude Church, the CWL for the
luncheon, the nurses and doctors of Western Hospital, the active and honorary pallbearers, flower bearers,
readers, Eucharistic ministers, Home Care, the Royal Canadian Legion Branches for their service at the Funeral
Home and Honor Guard at the Church, and to the Premiers for their attendance. Thank you to those who
opened and closed the grave and to anyone who we may have missed, we will forever be grateful.
