Manali
En Inde, Manali est une station himalayenne de sports
d’hiver et un point de passage sur la «route des dieux» –
l’une des plus hautes voies carrossables au monde (certains
cols culminent à plus de 5 000 m). Ces auspices qui laissent
rêveurs ont ainsi nommé ce chalet-hôtel gardé par deux
éléphants de marbre blanc. Posé au lieu-dit Moriond
l’Ensoleillé, à deux «plantés de bâton» des premières
remontées mécaniques (1946) de Courchevel, sa terrasse est
le solarium idéal où savourer les grillades réalisées en plein
air. À la tombée du jour, les piano-bar, billard, baby-foot
et spa Cinq Mondes (hammam, piscine, sauna) délassent
les sportifs, qui auront confé leur progéniture au Chalet
des enfants. À partir de 3 ans, des animations, jeux et même
une bibliothèque leur offrent d’autres découvertes que celle
des focons. Les 37 chambres familiales font, elles, le tour
du monde : le bois blond de celles inspirées par les Alpes
suisses voisine avec les rondins et les fourrures (fausses !)
des chambres «trappeur canadien» ou les boiseries peintes
aux motifs infusés d’Inde. Ici, une part d’Himalaya
accueille d’autres neiges mythiques. VG
In India, Manali is a Himalayan winter sports resort located
along the “road of the gods”—one of the world’s highest
motorable routes (some passes climb more than
5,000 meters high). This is the spirit behind the name
of this chalet-hotel, fanked by two white marble elephants.
Located in Moriond l’Ensoleillé (Sunny Moriond), just two
“ski poles” away from the frst mechanized lifts (1946)
at Courchevel, the terrace is an ideal solarium for outdoor
barbecues. At nightfall, the piano bar, billiards, foosball
and Cinq Mondes Spa (hammam, pool, sauna) soothe
and relax athletic guests, who’ve entrusted their children to
the Chalet des Enfants. For kids aged three and older, there
are activities, games and even a library, for learning about
more than snowfakes. The 37 family-style rooms are like
a tour around the world: light wood in those inspired by
the Swiss Alps; Canadian trapper rooms with logs and
fake furs; and others featuring painted woodwork
and motifs from India. A Himalayan refuge
with hints of other snowy landscapes.
