19-room property was originally built in 1999 as a
modest bed and breakfast and is now a small-scale
Relais & Châteaux standout in a city of posh hotels.
WHAT WE LOVED Brunching on the croque madame,
made with Madrange ham and Emmenthal, at
Chef’s Table, the hotel’s much-awarded restaurant.
IF YOU ONLY HAVE ONE NIGHT Sleep in. Tea or coffee
is delivered to your door in a Thermos every morning, along with the newspaper, so you can take as
long as you want getting up. BONUS Hop on a complimentary Brooklyn Cruiser bike, and take a ride
across Santiago Calatrava’s iconic Peace Bridge
before dinner at the reborn River Café in Prince’s
Island Park.  Modeste gîte à son ouverture en

The Listel, located on bustling Robson Street in
downtown Vancouver, is stocked with museumgrade art on almost every wall. WHAT WE LOVED
Communing with the retro-futuristic sculptures
of Uruguayan artist Cecilia Miguez each time we
stepped off the elevator on the way to our room on
the Gallery Floor. IF YOU ONLY HAVE ONE NIGHT Book
seats at the buzzy central bar at Forage, where chef
Chris Whittaker delivers spicy Sawmill Bay clams
from the Strait of Georgia. BONUS Almost all of the
art in the hotel (some 500 works in total) is for
sale, though you’ll have to bowl GM Jim Mockford
over if you hope to depart with one of his beloved
Robert Indiana pop pieces.  Dans l’animée Robson
Street, au cœur de Vancouver, le Listel est l’un des
hôtels-boutiques les plus réjouissants en ville, avec
les œuvres d’art de haute volée qui ornent presque
