W
hether in everyday life or
at work, polymers are
everywhere. This industry
has been experiencing record growth
for several years. The polymer
sector is developing thanks to new
applications in every field (medical,
construction, transportation,
packaging, electronics, etc.) and to
its ongoing innovations. These new
processes have become strategic
given the requirements related to
respect for the environment
(recycling, biopolymers, etc.).
The IFP School Processes and
Polymers program offers you overall
knowledge of the petrochemical
chain. You are trained in crude oil
refining processes, monomer
production, industrial polymerization
and plastics processing.
At IFP School, we assert our
singularity. Our academic approach
illustrates this point. We put a strong
focus on scientific, technical and
economic skills, but we also teach
expertise in the design, construction,
operation and optimization of safe
and clean processes.

Our programs adapt to the leading
trends in the field. The demand
for finished products that are
increasingly effective in terms
of their applications and
environmentally-friendly is
constantly growing. We have
therefore decided to explore
the development of new polymer
qualities in depth (lifecycle analysis,
recycling, biopolymers, etc.).

At IFP School, we give you solid
work and inter-personal methods.
You will be quickly operational and
adapt easily to cross-cutting teams
in a multicultural professional
environment. IFP School is very
internationally-oriented (bilingual
training, practical placements
abroad, etc.) and we are proud of
the cosmopolitan atmosphere you
will find in this program. Sharing
experiences and cultures with
students from many different
countries will help you become
an open-minded and responsible
professional.
The IFP School Processes and
Polymers program offers numerous
opportunities in a sector stimulated
by the development of new
applications and its ongoing
Research and Development.
The degree gives you openings
in a wide range of fields: process
development, product development,
engineering, operations, research,
sales engineering, etc.

PROGRAM CONTENT
This program is divided into
the following themes:
Students in this program (around 25)
are almost all sponsored by
companies (through sponsorships,
apprenticeships, or study leave) that
finance their living expenses during
the academic period and contribute
towards their tuition.
Among these companies, the
following were IFP School partners
in recent years (non-exhaustive list):
Air Liquide, Arkema, Axens, Chevron
Oronite, ExxonMobil, IFP, Michelin,
Naphtachimie, Petrobras, Technip,
Total, Total Petrochemicals, etc.

PROGRAM SCHEDULE
The two examples of schedules
shown below correspond to the most
frequently encountered cases for
students in this program: 16-month
continuous program for students
with a 4- or 5-year engineering
degree; alternating school / company
16-month program for students with
a 5-year engineering degree.
Alternating school / company program

Company
There are other possible cases
as well:
• 10-month continuous program for
students with a 5-year engineering
degree who have already done
work in a company for at least
4 months that is validated by
the IFP School at admission;
• 22-month alternating school /
company program for students
in their second to last year of
a major European school
or university having signed
an agreement with IFP School.
