Product overview
IBM® Tivoli® Storage Productivity Center Select Edition provides a set of policy-driven automated tools for managing storage
capacity, availability, events, performance, and assets in your enterprise environment. The product offers discovery, topology,
monitoring, and alerting for your resources. It manages storage capacity, device and fabric performance, 2-site replication, 3-site
replication, and advanced copy services. It also provides basic capacity reporting, NAS discovery, and a Cloud Service API.
The IBM Tivoli Storage Productivity Center Select Edition license is priced by the number of storage enclosures that it manages.

Step 4: Install DB2
Before you install Tivoli Storage Productivity Center, you must install DB2® Enterprise Server Edition.
Tivoli Storage Productivity Center stores the information that it collects about storage resources in a DB2 database. For

Step 5: Install IBM Tivoli Storage Productivity Center Select Edition
You can use an installation wizard or a command line in silent mode to install Tivoli Storage Productivity Center. For

com.ibm.tpc_V527.doc/fqz0_t_installing_tpc.html. Also, by default, the Red Hat Enterprise Linux installation includes
most of the packages that are required by Tivoli Storage Productivity Center. However, additional packages are required
for the Tivoli Storage Productivity Center installation program, GUI, and other applications that are used with Tivoli
Storage Productivity Center. Ensure that these packages are installed before you install Tivoli Storage Productivity Center

Step 6: (Optional) Install Cognos Business Intelligence reports
The Tivoli Storage Productivity Center installation includes the option to install Cognos® Business Intelligence reports and
the components that are required to produce these reports: Jazz™ for Service Management and IBM Tivoli Common
Reporting. Cognos BI is an optional tool for producing scheduled reports from the data that is gathered by Tivoli Storage
Productivity Center. You can use the reporting features in the Tivoli Storage Productivity Center GUI to produce reports
about the status, capacity, and performance of the storage resources that you want to monitor without installing Cognos
BI.
