I4CCLA11 (6 ECTS credits) Communicating within organizations in foreign languages Level 1 Objectives : The classes given in French will focus on: - How to react to society's demand for technical and scientific information - How to foster critical thinking in order to give appropriate answers when questioned about such issues - How to communicate effectively in the workplace The classes given in English will focus on the specific linguistic characteristics of English used in such contexts in order for the students to understand and master them. The students will also be made aware of the specificity of professional communication within the English-speaking world Module L2 The objectives, defined in reference to the CEFRL for the 5 language activities, depend on the language studied - Chinese, German, Spanish - and the level of the student. They can be consulted on: https://moodle.insa-toulouse.fr/course/view.php?id=44 In certain cases, students may be authorised to follow an English module instead of another language. Description : Programme (detailed contents) : Module in French The courses will present the general context of communication within organisations. The students will be asked to consider more specifically - Internal communication - External communication - The laws that regulate communication They will also be asked to consider Business Writing and Conducting Meetings Module in English The teaching will take the form of tutorials including role-playing games and activities focusing on professional communication. The students will be able to acquire or develop skills in negotiation, business writing and speaking, and marketing. They will also be offered to consider professional ethics. Assessment : How do you assess that the objectives have been reached ? In French : Continuous assessment : Written (50%), Oral (50%). In English : Written : final paper marked in class. (50%), Oral : continual assessment (50%). Module L2 Continual assessment (50%) including Spoken interaction and production, Final examination (50%) on Listening, reading and writing. Assessment method : Written exam, Oral exam, written Exam + oral Number of hours : 75h (tutorials), 40h (Personal work) Prerequisites : For classes in English : mastery of general English.
