The Esxence show, a real hit!
The Esxence show, a real hit! 20-23 March 2014 Milan, Palazzo dell’ Arte de la Triennale Hosted for the first time at the Triennale Design Museum, not far from Castello Sforzesco, residence of the powerful Sforza dynasty, the 2014 edition of Esxence again attested to incredible vitality. In effect it shows the dynamism of niche brands and the health of Italian distribution, which remains deeply attached to a cultural approach to perfume, in total contrast to that of France. Ever more numerous new brands took part this year in a stimulating adventure that our Italian friends initiated a few years ago with exemplary finesse. For four days, the atmosphere was all passion and excitement. Brand owners, enlightened distributors, subtle journalists and the informed public moved feverishly about, there were many inflamed discussions, and the secret language of distilled scents meandered. The Esxence show presented a lively perfume industry that ardently desires renewal and rejuvenation. For the fifth consecutive time, the Osmothèque, represented by Emmanuelle Giron, Christiano Canali, junior perfumer at IFF, and myself, was invited to take part in this event that has become a must in Europe. Sabine Chabbert and Laurence Férat, authors of the recently published book Parfums Rares, teamed up with the Osmothèque to sing the praises of fabulous niche brands. The talk I gave – “Chemistry, a Source of Creativity for Perfume” – attracted an attentive, curious audience. During the show, French houses such as those listed here gained attention: Molinard Parfums, Les Parfums de Rosine, Parfums Caron, Parfums d’Orsay, Robert Piguet, The Different Company, Parfums de Nicolaï, Le Galion, Rallet Paris. As did those with more suggestive, more cosmopolitan names: Liquides imaginaires, Profumi di Pantelleria, Torre of Tuscany, Ego Facto, My Inner Island, etc… As you can imagine, it was quite a rejuvenating show. .
