Vincent Michéa
Born in 1963, Figeac, France
Lives and works between Paris and Dakar
After graduating from the École Supérieure d'Arts Graphiques et d'Architecture Intérieure (ESAG / Penninghen) in Paris, Vincent Michéa immigrated to
Dakar in 1986 to exercise his talents as graphic designer. In 1987, he had his first exhibition at the National Gallery of Senegal. From this exhibition
onwards to 1991, he worked as assistant of Roman Cieslewicz. Greatly inspired by the renowned graphic designer, Michéa threw himself into his
painting profusely.
Michéa co-founded the label 100% Dakar and also collaborated with DKR Studios during the nineties. In 2007 and 2008, he taught photomontage
workshops at the Academy of Fine Arts in Kinshasa.
Since 2008, along with the painter Moulay Youssef Elkahfai, Vincent Michéa has been teaching silkscreen printing at the École Supérieure des Arts
Visuels(ESAV)in Marrakech, Morocco.
He is now represented by different galleries in Europe, USA and Africa, and his artwork has been shown in many solo and group shows including in
Saatchi Gallery - London at the exhibition Pangaea: New Art From Africa and Latina America in 2014. In 2015, he presents his second solo exhibition
at the Galerie Cécile Fakhoury - Abidjan: "De Punta a Punta".
Currently, his work is shown at the exhibition Making Africa, A Continent of Contemporary Design at the Centre de Cultura Contemporània de
Barcelona.
