horrific violence in the Central African Republic. Food has finally arrived for the refugees, who fled their
homes almost four weeks ago. Bangui International Airport is where many people have sought solace

Nearly a million flee violence in Central African Republic - As the violence in the Central African
Republic reaches unprecedented levels, aid organizations say the number of internally displaced people
edges toward a million, further hampering humanitarian relief efforts. The nearly 935,000 displaced
people are hiding in bushes and seeking refuge with host families, and churches and schools have been
turned in to makeshift shelters. More than half the population of the capital city of Bangui has been
displaced, and nearly 60 percent of them are displaced children, according to the latest report from
UNHCR, the United Nations’ refugee agency.

Exodus adds to CAR crisis - Almost 20,000 people of Chadian origin have left violence in the Central
African Republic (CAR) in recent weeks, and many more are expected to join the exodus, which is
straining humanitarian capacity in Chad, a country many of those fleeing have never lived in.

UN chief calls for ending violence in Central African Republic (CAR) - The UN Secretary-General Ban Kimoon Thursday warned of the risk of further upheaval among communities in the Central African
Republic (CAR) and called for ending violence, which has displaced nearly one million people. "The
horrific cycle of violence and retaliation between communities must stop immediately," reported
Xinhua citing Ban in a message to the extraordinary summit of the Economic Community of Central

Central African assembly summoned to Chad to decide leader’s fate - Regional leaders summoned
members of Central African Republic’s transitional assembly on Thursday to a summit in Chad to decide
the fate of interim President Michel Djotodia following his failure to end inter-religious violence. Ahmat
Allami, the secretary-general of the 10-nation Economic Community of Central African States (ECCAS),
said the members of the Central African Republic’s National Transitional Council (CNT) had been flown
in at short notice to the Chadian capital N’Djamena to decide the leadership of their nation.

Idriss Déby dicte sa loi à la hussarde au régime centrafricain - M. Déby est ulcéré depuis des mois par
l'incapacité du président de transition Michel Djotodia, du gouvernement dirigé par le Premier ministre
Nicolas Tiengaye et du Conseil national de transition (CNT, parlement provisoire) à mettre un terme aux
exactions et à la spirale de violences interreligieuses. Jeudi - à l'occasion d'un nouveau sommet régional
sur la crise centrafricaine qu'il a convoqué en personne - il leur a clairement signifié, avec des mots
abrupts, que tout cela devait cesser, alors que le sort du président Djotodia était toujours dans la
balance dans la nuit de jeudi à vendredi où les tractations se poursuivaient dans la capitale tchadienne.

Pour le président tchadien, les violences dont ont été la cible en décembre ses compatriotes établis de
très longue date chez le voisin centrafricain ont marqué un point de non-retour.

Centrafrique : Michel Djotodia se retrouve seul - Les dirigeants d’Afrique centrale ont convoqué à
N’Djamena le Parlement centrafricain pour statuer sur le sort du président Michel Djotodia. Michel
Djotodia était sur la sellette, jeudi. Le président centrafricain, désigné après la victoire des rebelles
Séléka et la fuite du président François Bozizé, est devenu la cible de la communauté internationale
pour son incapacité à rétablir l'ordre dans son pays, ensanglanté par les violences.

Central African Republic food aid resumes as supplies reach Bangui - An estimated 100,000 people
holed up at an airport in Central African Republic (CAR) gained some respite this week when aid workers
delivered food after a three-week impasse. Families have sought refuge at a makeshift camp at M'poko
airport in the capital, Bangui, as a wave of killing and looting continues to engulf the country, driving

Central African Republic: UNHCR Resumes Aid Distribution for 100,000 At Bangui Airport - The UN
refugee agency has resumed distribution of relief items to the estimated 100,000 people who have fled
to Bangui International Airport to escape sectarian violence in the capital city of the Central African
Republic. "It is a relief for UNHCR and the displaced people staying at the airport site. We had to
suspend distribution of aid on several occasions, and were frustrated that we could not properly assist
people living on this site due to security concerns," said Kouassi Lazare Etien, UNHCR's representative in

Des milliers de déplacés affluent toujours à Bangui - Près de 7000 personnes ayant trouvé refuge près
de la communauté religieuse de Padre Pio et du grand séminaire de la capitale, ont reçu une aide
alimentaire sous forme de maïs, haricots, sel et huile. «Ces personnes ont fui récemment les violences,
laissant derrière elles pratiquement tout ce qu'elles avaient. Elles ont beaucoup de mal à subvenir à
leurs besoins», a déclaré jeudi Georgios Georgantas, chef de la délégation du Comité international de la
