Hey, guys, it’s Sam from Myron’s Extreme Machines here in Fullerton, California.
We are the largest electric bike shop in Southern California. Today in my store I have fifty-four models
from twelve different manufacturers. I would say (that) ninety-five percent of the bikes that are here on
my showroom floor have lithium-ion batteries in them, and (a) kind of an industry standard is twenty
miles an hour with a twenty-mile range.
In the last six years the innovation and the technology going into electric bikes has just leaped ahead by
leaps and bounds. In the last couple of years we’ve been averaging over three hundred bike sales par
year.
Other people buy electric bikes because it’s their only form of transportation (that) they can operate
legally. There’s a certain part of our society that has had their license suspended or can’t get a license for
various reasons. And that can be from having a DUI to having medical issues, and an electric bike is the
only form of motorized transportation in the state of California (that) you can operate without licensing,
registration or insurance.
In a way, it’s a form of freedom for them. They are no longer dependent on family members or public
transportation. And an electric bike costs pennies to operate versus what an automobile does.
On an electric bike, it’s a true form of a hybrid vehicle. You can exercise as much or as little as you
want. And that’s another great thing that an electric bike does for you is (that) you can get up those hills.
The “wow” factor when you ride an electric bike is incredible. I have so many people that have
purchased a bike from me just based on the test ride. You’re out in the elements, especially in the Sun
Belt states, such as here in southern California. You know, you’ve got the wind in your face; it’s a nice,
beautiful experience, actually, riding an electric bike.
We’ve been doing it longer than anybody else, we service what we sell, and we have an open-door policy.
If you get the wrong bike, we’re not the kind of company that’s gonna say, “All sales are final.” You
know, bring it back and we’ll exchange it and we’ll get you into the right bike that’s the right fit for you.
