Alberto Giuliani est le directeur éditorial de l’agence italienne LUZ. Il
est devenu photographe professionel en 1993. Ses images sont nées de
la passion pour l’histoire et ses histoires deviennent parfois même des
histoires écrites ou des articles de journaux. Son travail photographique
n’est pas seulement orienté vers le photojournalisme. A titre d’exemple,
il a participé à la réalisation d’une performance théatrale sur l’Islam
avec le musicien Cesare Picco.
Depuis Janvier 2007 Alberto Giuliani concentre ses travaux sur les
questions liées à la mafia en Italie, réunit dans un projet appelé «Married
to the Mob». Ce travail, qui est encore en plein essor, a été finaliste
pour le W. Eugene Smith 2008 et lui a valu le prix à la mémoire de G.
Siani, l’Association des journalistes Campano, avec la reconnaissance
de la Présidence de la République italienne. En 2009, il a remporté le
prix pour le reportage LEICA et son nom est inscrit comme un des 190
talents italiens dans le monde du livre Young Blood (2008). En réalisant
ses travaux photographiques, Giuliani collabore avec divers journalistes
de renom tels que Roberto Saviano, Pine Corrias, Francesco La Licata.
Son travail a également reçu de nombreux prix : CANON (2000) et AGFA
(2003), Joop Swart Masterclass of WORLD PRESS PHOTO (2005). En
Décembre 2008, il a publié, pour Amnesty International, un livre sur le
Tibet de la Chine (EGA éditeur), avec sa série «un photographe pour les
droits humains».

began a professional photojournalist in 1993. His images spring from
his passion for storytelling and sometimes those stories becomes
also written stories and journalistic articles. With its pictures he has
documented big events of our times. But its pictures are not only
photojournalism. Together with the musician Cesare Picco, Alberto
Giuliani staged a theatrical performance about Islam, called «Viaggio a
Samarcanda» (On the way to Samarkand).
Since 2007 he is also working on a project named MARRIED TO THE
MOB – on the Italian mafias. On this work he is collaborating with some
of the most well-known Italian journalists, like Roberto Saviano, Pino
Corrias, Francesco La Licata. In 2009 he won the LEICA AWARD for
photojournalism and his name is included in the list of the 190 Italian
talents in the world of the book Young Blood 2008. Alberto Giuliani’s
works have won several awards, amongst which: CANON (2000)
and AGFA (2003), Joop Swart Masterclass of WORLD PRESS PHOTO
(2005). He won the Siani Award for journalism in 2008, with the high
acknowledgment of the Italian Republic Precidency, and it has been
selected as finalist in the E. Smith Grant 2008
