École Dorset School: Full STEAM Ahead 2015-16!
School has been in session for 2015-16 for a month now. As a teacher, (back in the
day), I used to say my summer holiday started when I stopped dreaming about school
and it ended when I started dreaming about school. Summer is the time for teachers
and kids to recharge those personal batteries. No doubt the dreams are well underway
for my former colleagues. (“How do I reach her?” “How do I best support that
family?” “How do I engage him”? Report card time, parent-teacher inteviews how
will they go?)
And meanwhile ‘back at school’ the parents of Dorset continue to support the students
and teachers with help in the library and classrooms. The Home and School welcomed
everyone back and organized the annual BBQ on September 23! It is also fill steam ahead for the teaching
staff with the STEAM project (Science/ Technology/ Engineering, Art and Mathematics!) in French and
English-phew!
Last June I gave the teachers an assignment for the September News and Views issue. It was the
traditional back to school-what did you do on your summer vacation! There wasn’t room for all their
entries last issue, so here’s a rewind to some great things to do and spots to visit perhaps for your family
next year.

Pirates Cove" à la plage Old Orchard. C'est une
destination familiale depuis plus de 27 ans.

I went to Hawaii in July. Attached is a
pic of what later became the moment
right before my life changed forever.
A proposal!
Here I am exploring the
mountainside and harbour in
Ketichikan, Alaska on a 4x4
military Jeep with some young
Tlinglit guides. Spectacular
landscapes all around.
