Trucking HR Canada’s Women with Drive initiative looking
to capture more information on the role of mentorship
Ottawa, ON (August 10, 2015) Trucking HR Canada’s Women with Drive initiative is launching
an industry survey, looking to capture information on the role mentorship can play in supporting
more women in trucking.
In the summer of 2014, Trucking HR Canada conducted surveys with women working in the
trucking industry to identify barriers and challenges. Women who replied recommended
targeted mentoring as one of the top 3 things employers could offer when looking to hire more
women.
Last year's survey results informed the development of a three-year action plan for Trucking HR
Canada’s National Women with Drive Advisory Committee. Now, work is moving forward in
identifying a model for mentorship that will support women in the industry.
“Mentorship is a proven practice in the area of employee retention. As we work to better
support women in the trucking industry, we are exploring different mentorship models. Industry
input is critical if we are to identify a practical and effective model.” says Angela Splinter, CEO,

The survey asks for insights and input on what would work best. The survey takes
approximately 20 minutes to complete, and results will be aggregated and reviewed by the
National Advisory Committee to determine next steps. The survey is available in both English
and French, and participants have until September 4, 2015 at midnight (EDT) to complete it.

Other Women with Drive commitments involve our national Women with Drive leadership
Summit scheduled for March 3, 2016 in Toronto, identifying best practices, and developing
workplace tools and procedures for inclusive workplaces.

L’initiative Women with Drive de RH Camionnage
Canada est à la recherche de vos idées sur le
mentorat
Ottawa, ON, le 10 août 2015 – L’initiative Women with Drive menée par Ressources Humaines
en Camionnage Canada lance aujourd’hui un sondage pour l’industrie visant à obtenir
davantage d’information sur le rôle que le mentorat joue auprès des femmes et de leur carrière
dans l’industrie du camionnage.
Durant l’été 2014, RH Camionnage Canada a mené un premier sondage auprès de
nombreuses femmes travaillant dans l’industrie au sujet des barrières et défis auxquels elles
font face. Les femmes qui ont participé ont recommandé le mentorat ciblé parmi le Top 3 des
initiatives que les employeurs pourraient mettre en place afin d’embaucher plus de femmes.
Le sondage de l’année dernière a aussi contribué au développement d’un plan d’action s’étalant
sur trois ans pour le comité consultatif Women with Drive de RH Camionnage Canada.
Aujourd’hui, le projet fait un autre pas vers l’avant en tentant d’identifier un modèle de mentorat
qui soutiendra les femmes dans l’industrie.
« Le mentorat est une méthode prouvée en matière de rétention d’employés. En travaillant à
améliorer le soutien offert aux femmes dans l’industrie du camionnage, nous envisageons
différents modèles de mentorat. L’opinion de l’industrie est cruciale si nous voulons développer
un modèle qui soit pratique et efficace. » a affirmé Angela Splinter, PDG, RH Camionnage
Canada.
Le sondage demande ainsi aux participants de donner leurs opinions et idées sur ce qui
fonctionnerait le mieux. Il prend approximativement 20 minutes à compléter et les résultats
seront évalués par le comité consultation, afin de déterminer quelles seront les prochaines
étapes. Le sondage est disponible tant en français qu’en anglais et les participants ont jusqu’au
4 septembre 2015 à minuit (EDT) pour le compléter.

D’autres engagements de l’initiative Women with Drive incluent un second Sommet national sur
le leadership, prévu le 3 mars 2016 à Toronto, l’identification de meilleures pratiques, ainsi que
le développement d’outils et procédures pour un milieu de travail inclusif.
