It is not intended to be and should not be construed as an advertisement or a commercial offer or a solicitation to invest. For further details and information, please refer to our general terms and conditions. 15 July 2010 HSBC France launches HSBC Cap 18, an investment eligible for life insurance contracts offering the opportunity to benefit from the potential performance of the DJ Eurostoxx 50 index HSBC Cap 18 is a unit-linked EMTN eligible for life insurance and capitalisation contracts written by HSBC Assurances. It is available for most multi-fund life insurance contracts currently on offer. HSBC Cap 18 gives HSBC France retail customers, who are French tax residents, the opportunity to diversify their investments whilst capturing the potential performance of the DJ Eurostoxx 50 index. It provides full capital protection at maturity (excluding front-end fees and management fees). Cap 18 provides customers with the following benefits under the special life insurance regime: - It helps diversify the investor's portfolio in a market environment through a conservative exposure to equities. Scenario 1: at the end of the third year, if the DJ Eurostoxx 50 performance is positive or zero compared with its initial level, the potential will be 18% (i.e. a gross annualised return of 5.67% (2) ), which is added to the initial investment. - Scenario 2: if the performance is negative after three years, the maturity will be extended to eight years, or a potential of 75% of the DJ Eurostoxx 50's final performance, which is added to the initial investment. If the final performance is negative or zero, the initial investment is fully protected (1) . The investment, which is redeemed after three or eight years as the case may be, will be automatically reinvested at no cost in the with-profit fund. Any withdrawals made other than on the redemption dates will be made at market terms with a risk of capital loss. HSBC Cap 18 is open until 27 July 2010 for new life insurance or capitalisation contracts and until 13 August 2010 for additional payments or switches to existing contracts. The DJ Eurostoxx 50 is Europe's leading blue-chip index for the Eurozone and comprises 50 stocks representing supersector leaders. This new fund enables HSBC France's life insurance customers to take a controlled exposure to the equity markets and provides two opportunities for gains at three or eight years (mutually exclusive), combined with full capital protection (1) .
