Le Carcinome hépatocellulaire (CHC)
Le CHC est un cancer primaire du foie qui fait partie des cinq cancers
les plus courants au monde (3ème cause de décès lié au cancer). Il
est diagnostiqué mondialement chez près de 500 000 patients/an
dont près de 20 000 aux Etats Unis et 3 000 rien qu’en France.
Le CHC survient presque
toujours sur une maladie
hépatique préexistante: cirrhose
dans plus de 90% des cas, mais
peut être également induit par
du diabète, une hépatite ou
encore des mycotoxines. Il
s’observe exceptionnellement
sur un foie sain.
Traiter le CHC par radiothérapie guidée par l’imagerie (IGRT) sera
particulièrement efficace et bénéfique, car actuellement seuls 30%
des patients peuvent bénéficier d’un traitement curatif chirurgical
(transplantation, résection). Les autres patients ne reçoivent qu’un
traitement palliatif utilisant plusieurs techniques (alcoolisation,
radiofréquence, chimio-embolisation). Le CHC est une tumeur
mobile en corrélation avec la respiration du patient qui ne peut pas
être actuellement traitée par IGRT, car le contraste en radiographie
X du CHC par rapport au foie sain est trop faible. Le CHC est la
première cible thérapeutique du projet Tumor-Track.
En visant 20% du marché mondial des CHC, le chiffre d'affaires
annuel potentiel est de 15 millions d’euros.

- Marc! Est-il possible d'envisager un financement provenant de
l'étranger ?
- Nous avons reçu plus d’une dizaine de souscriptions de
particuliers étrangers, mais je pense que ta question concerne
plutôt les gros investisseurs. Actuellement, dans le cadre de
cette opération de « crowdfunding » nous avons été contactés
par un cabinet d’investissement français ainsi qu’un particulier
fortuné provenant d’un pays du Golfe. Toutefois, par souci de
discrétion, je ne peux en dire plus, tant que les affaires ne sont
pas finalisées.

Oncovet Clinical Reseach
(OCR)
Oncovet est une clinique vétérinaire
basée à Lille. Sa branche OCR effectue
des essais précliniques sur animaux de
compagnie spontanément malades, avec
l’accord des propriétaires. Le but est
d’offrir un soin à ces animaux tout en
testant
de
nouvelles
solutions
thérapeutiques.
Dans le cadre du projet Tumor-Track ce
seront entre 10 et 15 chiens (selon
disponibilités) spontanément atteints du
CHC qui seront traités dans des
conditions similaires au protocole utilisé
pour l’homme.
Dans le cadre de ces essais aucun chien
ne sera euthanasié (sauf nécessité
éthique). Au contraire, ils seront
systématiquement rendus à leur
propriétaire
et
le
suivi
postradiothérapie sera assuré afin d’évaluer
l’efficacité du traitement.

Le foie est un organe filtrant où se
localisent très fréquemment des
métastases
tumorales
d’autres
cancers.
Traiter
ces
cancers
secondaires fait également partie de
nos objectifs. Cependant, en raison
de la diversité de leurs origines,
concentrer
efficacement
notre
nanomarqueur au sein de ces
tumeurs secondaires nécessitera une
autre solution technologique que
pour le CHC.

Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC)
HCC is a primary liver cancer, which is among the five most common
cancers in the world (the third cause of cancer death). It is diagnosed
in about 500,000 patients / year in the world with nearly 20,000 in
the US and 3000 in France.
HCC almost always
arrive on pre-existing
liver disease: cirrhosis
in over 90% of cases,
but can also be
induced by diabetes,
hepatitis
or
mycotoxins.
It
is
observed exceptionally
in a healthy liver.
Currently only 30% of patients may benefit from surgical curative
treatment (transplantation, resection),. The remaining patients
received only palliative treatment using several techniques (alcohol,
radiofrequency, chemoembolization). HCC is a mobile tumor with
patient breathing that can not currently be treated by Image Guided
RadioTherapy (IGRT), because X-ray contrast of HCC is too low
compared to healthy liver contrast. So it will be highly beneficial to
treat HCC by radiotherapy.
That is why HCC is the first therapeutic target of Tumor-Track
project.
By targeting 20% of the HCC global market, potential annual
turnover is 15 million Euros.

Oncovet Clinical Reseach
(OCR)
Oncovet is a veterinary clinic based in
Lille. Its OCR branch conducts preclinical
animal studies on spontaneously sick pet
animals, with the agreement of the
owners. The goal is to provide care to
these animals while testing new
therapeutic solutions.
Within the Tumor-Track project,
between 10 and 15 dogs (depending on
availability) who have spontaneously
contracted HCC will be treated in similar
conditions to protocols used for humans.
As part of these clinical trials no dog will
be euthanized (except ethical necessity).
Instead they will be systematically
returned to their owner, and postradiotherapy
monitoring will
be
performed in order to assess treatment
efficacy.

- Marc! Is it possible to consider funding from outside the
country?
- We received more than a dozen subscriptions form foreign
people but I think your question concerns rather big
investors. Currently, as part of this "crowdfunding"
operation we were contacted by a French investment firm
and a rich man from one of the Gulf states. Unfortunately, I
can not tell you more, these people have a high regard for
the discretion as long as the business is not finalized.
Liver is a filter organ where tumor
metastases from other cancers are
very frequently located. To treat
these secondary cancers is also a part
of our goals. However, due to their
diverse origins, concentrate efficiently
our nanomarqueur in these secondary
tumors
will
require
another
technological solution than the HCC
one.
