 Bonjour à tous, Je m’appelle Alex Yeoh et je serai votre assistant de langue anglaise pendant cette année. Tout d’abord, je dois vous remercier de m’avoir accepté dans votre lycée. Alors, permettez-­‐moi de me présenter afin que vous puissiez me connaître mieux. J'ai 23 ans et je suis étudiant de français et espagnol. Étant passionné de voyager depuis mon enfance, je suppose que je suivrai toujours une telle filière. À mon avis, la raison des problèmes majeurs de notre époque, c'est le manque de compréhension culturelle, dont les langues font grande partie. C'est pour cela que je suis toujours triste quand je constate que les enfants chez moi en Angleterre ne désirent pas apprendre de langue étrangère. C'est ce que je voudrais engendrer aux étudiants de votre lycée et, peut-­‐être, dans le futur, aux étudiants de l'Angleterre eux-­‐mêmes avec de la chance. En dehors de votre lycée, j’ai hâte de découvrir ce que la Roche-­‐sur-­‐Yon peut me démontrer sur la vie quotidienne en France. Je suis typiquement fanatique de sport, spécialement du foot et de Manchester United, d'où mon choix d'université (Université de Manchester!!!), mais aussi du rugby que j’ai joué pendant dix années. D'autres intérêts que je retiens sont la philosophie -­‐ je suis grand admirateur du philosophe roumain-­‐français, Emil Cioran -­‐ la photographie et la musique. Voilà, j'espère m'être présenté suffisamment. Je soupçonne que vous en avez tous assez maintenant donc je m'arrêterai là! Merci pour m’avoir lu et à très, très bientôt! Hi everyone! My name is Alex Yeoh and I will be an English language assistant at your college next year. First of all, I have to thank you for accepting me into your college. Anyway, allow me to introduce myself so that you may get to know me better. I am 23 years old and a French & Spanish student. Having been passionate about travelling since my youth, I suppose that I was always going to follow such a route. In my opinion, the reason behind the major problems of our era is a lack of cultural understanding, in which languages plays a big part. It’s for that reason that it always makes me sad when I note that the children back home in England do not like to learn foreign languages. This is what I would like to engender in your students in your college and, maybe, in the future, in English students themselves with a bit of luck. Outside of the college, I can’t wait to find out what la Roche-­‐sur-­‐Yon can show me about daily life in France! Being a boy, I am typically a fan of sport, especially of football and Manchester United, hence my choice of university – the University of Manchester! – but also of rugby which I played for about 10 years. Amongst my other interests are philosophy (I am a big fan of the French-­‐
