FESTIVAL DU VOYAGEUR OFFERED $50,000 MARKETING GRANT
A grant of $50,000 under the Tourism Attractions Program of Destination
Manitoba has been offered to Festival du Voyageur Inc.
The first part of the grant is in support of the development of a long-term
marketing plan-strategy, including product review, with the balance of the grant to
assist in the implementation of the plan.
This announcement was made by Federal Minister of State for Tourism Thomas
McMillan and by Manitoba Minister of Business Development and Tourism Samuel Uskiw.
Mr. Uskiw noted that Festival du Voyageur is recognized as one of the
province's largest annual events. Celebrating its sixteenth anniversary in 1985,
this event has a continuing influence in attracting visitors to Manitoba.
Both ministers indicated that this grant is offered as part of the
continuing efforts to strengthen and expand the tourism industry in Manitoba.
Destination Manitoba is the Tourism Development Agreement that is
cost-shared 60 per cent by the Government of Canada and 40 per cent by the Province
of Manitoba.
