“Happiness is not
in our circumstances, but in

something we see.

Director’s Message
STAY INFORMED and PLAN YOUR YEAR with AISB
AISB wants everyone to be aware of how they can keep up with all our happenings.
We encourage all our parents and community members to stay informed so events and
activities are not missed. Please review the following modes of communication we employ:
School Calendar – All parents have received the 2015-201 school calendar. All major
events and activities are identified. Pay close attention to the Wednesdays when students are dismissed at 12:00.
AISB Times – Generally, this school publication will be sent out every two weeks. We
ENCOURAGE all of you to read the Times completely each time it is published!
E-mail and SMS – Less frequently, we will send e-mails and texts to remind you when
something is happening or if something of note will occur.
Telephone – When necessary, communication will be done by telephone. This has two
-way potential. AISB may call you, or, you are welcome to contact our school office.

Messages Sent Home – There will be times when we send information via our students. We ask that parents stay involved and check with their children daily to see how
they are doing at school and if anything was sent home.
Identifying and planning for important events and activities is just as important as staying informed. Starting with the school calendar and following along when the AISB
Times is published will help you plan your year with us.
Following is a 1st semester list clearly marked on the school calendar – it is never too
early for planning.

Arrival in the Morning
Each school day when students arrive at AISB we want to be sure the process is as
safe and efficient s possible. With so many vehicles arriving each morning we all
must do our part to help. We ask parents and drivers who transport students to:
 drop students on the school side of the road so they do not have to cross
the road through traffic
 never cross traffic to drop off students
 always have the students leave the vehicle on the sidewalk side and not
the traffic side of the car
 stop only long enough to safely drop off the student(s)
 never leave the vehicle unattended in front of the school causing congestion or slowing traffic
Parents or drivers who need to come in to school should park further down the
road to keep the gate area clear for others to drop off students. We ask all parents to discuss these issues with their drivers.
Absent From School
Missing school is at times unavoidable due to circumstances such as illness, religious holidays, family emergencies, and school-sponsored trips. AISB needs confirmation from home when a child misses school or classes. We ask parents to
contact the school when their child is out of school or it is known they will be leaving school before the end of the school day. The school office will contact parents when a student is absent if we do not hear from the parents.
We encourage parents to keep student absences to as few as possible. Parents
are urged not to schedule family trips prior to or extending beyond school holidays, except in cases of emergency. If being absent is planned and absolutely
necessary, we ask parents to inform the school office at least two weeks in advance.

Back to School Night
Back-To-School Night is scheduled for Thursday, September 10. This is a very important event when parents have the opportunity to meet the AISB professional
staff and learn more about what is happening in their child’s classes.
This is not a parent conference. Rather, time for our staff to
share a little about what will be happening this year and some
information that will help parents in supporting their child.
Mark it on your calendar! The evening will begin at 17:00.
School Uniform Update
We have had a great start to the school year with our school uniforms. School and
physical education uniforms are being worn and they look good. We ask parents to
help by ensuring their child is dressed appropriately each day for school. AISB will
contact parents when children are not dressed properly for school. If you are in
need of any article of AISB clothing, visit the school office to purchase or order the
item. Thank you for your support!

more sessions during this school year. The sessions are listed below for your information
