Palm Class 2015 - 2016 Academic Achievements
The pupils in Palm class access Entry Levels 1, 2 and 3 qualifications from a range of examination boards including WJEC, OCR & AQA. Teaching is differentiated to meet the needs of individual pupils enabling them to achieve their
maximum potential within a range of accredited qualifications. Pupils can achieve a ‘spiked profile’ for example they may complete an Entry level 1 qualification in Mathematics and an Entry level 2 in English. All subjects taught in Palm
class are accredited. WJEC offers a suite of Entry Level Certificates, Awards and Diplomas are provided within the Qualifications and Credit Framework (QCF), which is designed to provide learners, learning providers and employers with
an inclusive and flexible regulated qualifications framework that recognises the widest possible range of quality-assured learner achievements.
The AQA design and Technology qualification offers two possible pathways through this specification. Last academic year the pupils successfully completed an entry level 3 qualification following the Product Design pathway way. This
year pupils will be specialising in a particular area, to attain a specific qualification. We have chosen the Graphic Products pathway. The subject content may be taught through a range of realistic and practical contexts, which could include
the home, recreation, school, the community, public services, business and industry.
The courses we have chosen allow us to tailor units to the requirements of our pupils whilst providing them with a broad and balanced curriculum. The courses are also selected to provide our pupils with the life skills they will need after
they leave Corbets Tey School. They foster the pupils’ independence, thinking, social and practical skills through a variety of different teaching approaches and work activities.
