EKO-AIMS LTD
Eko-Aims Ltd is a Finnish company that has manufactured an optical sport shooting system based on infrared light and camera technology
since 1995. It is completely bulletless and noiseless, and enables safe, easy and low-cost practicing of shooting. The system is commonly
used by hunting and sport clubs, companies and associations and private persons all around the world. The Finnish Defence forces are also
using the system in shooting training for conscripts. The optical shooting system is also very usable in amusement parks, as it has been
used for many years in Sweden’s oldest amusement park, Gröna Lund. E-BSS is a version of the system developed for visually impaired
people and thus the aiming is based on a sound signal with changing frequency. It has been the official shooting system in Salt Lake City,
Torino and Vancouver Paraolympics.
The establisher of the company and the people who work in development have a long experience of Biathlon and sports shooting. The
optical shooting system originated from the needs of beginners and young athletes but has since developed to respond also to the needs
of top athletes.

système de tir optique. Le système fonctionne sans balles et est silencieux,
permit de faire le tir d’une façon sûr, facile et à un coûts minimaux. Ce
système optique pour le tir sportif est basé sur la technologie infrarouge,
avec une caméra. Le système est utilisé dans des clubs de chasse, de tir
sportif, des entreprises et des clubs sportifs ainsi que de nombreuses
personnes à travers le monde. De plus, ce système est utilisé également par
l’armée finlandaise pour la formation de ses nouvelles recrues. Une autre
version est utilisée dans des parcs de loisirs. Par exemple le parc de loisir le
plus ancien de la Suède, Gröna Lund, l’utilise pendant beaucoup d’années.
Enfin, le E-BSS est une version pour les athlètes malvoyants avec un signal
acoustique. Celui-ci était le système officiel dans les Jeux Paralympiques de
Salt Lake City, Torino and Vancouver.

The functions of the system are based on an IR-light source as
target centre, and a target centre-identifying camera placed in
the gun. The shooting software is in the gun’s circle board. The
placement of the shot is determinated by the image given by
the camera inside the gun. The shot delay (barrel time) has been
included in the calculation. The shooting results are shown on a
separate display unit, or on the PC’s screen.
Le fonctionnement du système est basé sur une source IR au milieu
de la cible et une caméra dans le canon du pistolet ou de la carabine
qui reconnait cette source IR. Le logiciel du système se situe dans
l’électronique du canon. Le résultat du tir est calculé avec l’image
prise par la caméra au moment du tir. A cet instant, le système prend
en compte le délai de sortie de balle du canon. La valeur est montrée sur l’écran ou sûr un ordinateur.
A gun and a display unit form a pair and they communicate
via radio transmission. The shooting is saved on a display unit’s
memory to be repeated for re-analysis. The gun can store a total
of 100 most recent shots. Shots can be easily downloaded into a
display unit for later analysis.
Un pistolet ou une carabine utilisé avec un écran forme un ensemble indissociable. La communication entre les deux se fait par ondes.
L’information du tir est enregistrée dans l’écran, ce qui permet de
revoir le tir et de l’évaluer après coup. La mémoire du pistolet ou de
la carabine a une capacité de 100 coups.
The system is meant to be used on a 10-meter shooting
distance, but it can vary between 5 and 15 meters. The camera
and optics will adjust the results to correspond a 10-meter
shooting distance.
En principe, le système est utilisé à une distance de 10 mètres mais
fonctionne également entre 5 mètres minimum et 15 mètres maximum. La caméra et l’optique recalculent alors la valeur correspondante à une distance de 10 mètres.

For target shooting, a pistol, and a barrel replacement unit
for air pistol have been developed.

ELP-10 is a pistol especially planned as an easily affordable, everyplace sport pistol for beginners and young shooters. BRU-10 is a
barrel replacement unit for air pistol, intended for active shooting
athletes. Both units include the same shooting software. Replacing the pellet barrel with a barrel replacement unit is a simple
and easy operation, and can be done by the shooter.
Le ELP-10 est un pistolet de tir sportif développé pour l’initiation
des débutants et des jeunes. Le BRU-10 est un canon électronique
que l’on peut monter sur les pistolets à air en remplaçant le canon à
plombs. Ce modèle est développé pour les tireurs plus expérimentés. Les deux modèles utilisent le même logiciel. Remplacer le canon
à plombs par le BRU-10 est facile et rapide à effectuer.

BRU-10 is available for the most common air pistol models. Barrel
unit can be used either in a dry firing mode or with pressure on
when shooting.
For target shooting, the software includes a program which follows the ISSF rules for air pistol. There is also a shooting program
for Pentathlon shooting following the UIPM rules.

P3-E pistol is made for entertainment and leisure shooting. It is at
its best in different events and amusement parks. Several shooting game programs are included, where shooting time, hit area
and shooting order vary.

ELBR-2011 is an optical rifle unit developed especially for Biathlon
shooting. The unit can be fitted to the most common Biathlon
rifle stocks. It is meant for beginners and young Biathlon athletes
for safe and effective shooting training without a need for a
shooting range or supervision.
La carabine ELBR-2011 est développée pour le tir biathlon. L’ensemble de base de l’ELBR-2011 se monte également sur d’autres
modèles de crosses de biathlon. L’ELBR-2011 permet de tirer dans
des conditions de sécurité et d’efficacité avec des débutants ou
les jeunes biathlètes, ceci aussi bien dans un stand de tir qu’en
dehors de celui-ci.
ELT-430 target is intended for indoor shooting. For outdoor training, Biathlon target 350 is recommended.

There are separate shooting programs for standing and prone
shooting.

Optical Eko-Aims shooting system has been used in several
different competitions. The E-BSS-system in Paralympic biathlon
for visually impaired has been the forerunner since 2002, and
after that various Eko-Aims equipment has been used in or to
create a competition in different countries. The easily moveable
system enables competitions to be held near the spectators, or
setting up a competition in an environment where it would not
be possible to shoot with traditional shooting equipment. Some

A display unit is for monitoring and storing shooting data. It is
used to control the actions of both the gun and the unit itself. It
also controls the actions of the ELT-430 target.
Un écran est utilisé pour la visualisation du tir et l’enregistrement
des résultats. L’écran de contrôle fonctionne avec le pistolet ou la
carabine. De plus l’écran sert à piloter la cible électronique ELT-430.
Because the shooting software is in the gun’s circle board, there
must be a radio connection between the display unit and the
gun. Units must be paired before the first shooting.
Le logiciel de tir se trouve dans l’électronique du canon. Il y a une
communication par ondes entre le canon et l’écran. Pour cette
raison, une synchronisation est nécessaire entre les unités.
Either a PC or an E-Di 3 can be used as a display unit.
Un ordinateur (configuration de base) ou l’écran E-Di 3 (en option)
peut être utilisé.
E-Di 3 is a small and easy-to-use display unit that is also easy to
carry along. The aiming, hitting and result data will be displayed
graphically on a 2,5” LCD display. The display unit stores the
most recent 220 shots in its memory. The display unit includes a
rechargeable battery.
When using PC as a display unit, the operating system must be
Windows Vista or newer. For a radio connection, a USB radio is
delivered with the PC software. A PC as a display unit is suitable
for a single user when there is only little need for moving the
system.
When using an ELT-430 target the target must be
connected to the display unit with a target control
cable.
L’E-Di 3 est un écran compact et facile à utiliser. Les coups et les
résultats sont présentés sur un écran LCD de 2,5”. Le E-Di 3 enregistre les 220 derniers coups dans sa mémoire. L’E-Di 3 contient une
batterie rechargeable.
Quand un ordinateur est utilisé comme écran, le système
d’exploitation doit être Windows Vista ou un système plus récent.
Pour la communication entre l’ordinateur et le canon, une clé USB
radio est fournie avec le logiciel pour l’ordinateur. Utiliser son propre
ordinateur comme écran est très pratique pour des tireurs seuls qui
s’entrainent principalement au même endroit.
Pour certaines cibles électroniques (ex. ELT-430) et la cible
courante (élan) il est nécessaire que la cible soit
connectée avec l’écran par un
câble.

TAR-100
TAR-100 V is a one-spot basic target operating with mains
current. It is produced with spot diameters of 20mm, 30mm or
59,5mm. A battery operating version, TAR-100 L is also available.

TAR-170
TAR-170 V is especially designed for pistol shooting, and operates
with mains current. It has larger white background, making it
easier to aim at with pistol. The diameter of the spot is 59,5mm.
Also available with battery operating version, TAR-170 L.
ELT-430
ELT-430 V is a five-spot target designed for indoor use, and
operates with mains current. Battery operating version ELT-430
L is also available. When used outside, it is recommended to use
the rain cover, which is available as an accessory. It also protects
the target against direct sunlight. The ELT-430-target indicates
a successful hit with green color and a miss with red color. The
spot the shooter should be aiming at is always black. The target
is controlled with E-Di3 via a target control cable.
Biathlon target 350
Biathlon target 350 is a 5-spot target, and designed for heavy
duty outdoor use. It operates with mains current, and is
equipped with separate legs. The diameter of the spot is 30 mm.
When using several targets at the same time, there must be at
least a 50cm gap between targets. The camera in the gun is not
supposed to see two IR-lights operating at the same time.
TAR-170
TAR-170 V est la cible pour tir au pistolet, non-rechargeable. La cible
est plus grande comme typique pour des cibles pistolet afin de
pouvoir viser. Le diamètre du visuel est 59,5mm. Une version rechargeable est disponible : TAR-170 L.
ELT-430
ELT-430 V est une cible utilisé pour le tir biathlon à l’intérieur,
non-rechargeable. Une version rechargeable est disponible : ELT430 L. Quand utilise à l’extérieur, il est recommandé d’utiliser une
couverture pour la pluie, disponible comme une accessoire. Cette
couverture protège en plus la cible contre la lumière du soleil. La
cible ELT-430 indique un coup touché avec une lampe verte et un
coup rate avec une lampe. Le visuel qui est noir (pas illuminé), est le
visuel sûr lequel on tir. La cible est dirigé par l’ E-Di3 avec un câble
de control.
Biathlon target 350
La cible biathlon 350 est une cible conçu pour l’utilisation extérieur
dans n’importe conditions météorologique. C’est une cible non-rechargeable fournie avec des pieds. Le diamètre du visuel est 30 mm.
Quand on utilise plusieurs cibles au même moment, celles-ci
doivent être positionnées à une distance de 50 cm au moins. On
évite ainsi que la caméra dans le canon aperçoive plusieurs lampes
IR dans les cibles.
