All members must assume the responsibilities outlined in the Act, these Bylaws and the Association Code of Ethics to remain a member in good standing. Membership in the Association is available to a person of good character who meets the requirements of section 18 of the Act and these Bylaws”. The following sections of the Regulatory Bylaws 3.4 are repealed and replaced by: “3.4 Membership Eligibility and Classification “(a) Student Members Individuals who are enrolled as full-time students in an applied science or engineering technology program recognized by SASTT and who have complied with the requirements of these Bylaws and established policy”. “(c)(i) Applied Science Technologist An Applied Science Technologist shall hold a diploma in an accredited or recognized applied science/engineering technology program from a Saskatchewan technical institute or equivalent courses from other recognized institutions, or satisfactory completion of examinations established by the Association’s Examination Board; and provide evidence that he/she has a minimum of two years progressive, work-related experience in their field of academic training. The applicant’s experience shall be evaluated in accordance with the Profile of a Professional Applied Science Technologist and guidelines established by the Registration Board. “(ii) Certified Technician A Certified Technician shall hold a certificate in an accredited or recognized applied science/engineering technology program from a Saskatchewan technical institute or equivalent courses from other recognized institutions, or satisfactory completion of examinations established by the Association’s Examination Board; and provide evidence that he/she has a minimum of two years progressive, work-related experience in their field of academic training. The applicant’s experience shall be evaluated in accordance with the Profile of a Professional Certified Technician and guidelines established by the Registration Board”. “(g) Temporary Registration Any member who is registered with a provincial association or any other association recognized by the Board of Directors and requiring temporary registration while practicing applied science/engineering technology in Saskatchewan may be granted membership at the appropriate classification under such circumstances, conditions, limitations, and restrictions and for such temporary and limited periods of time as established by the Board of Directors”. 428 THE SASKATCHEWAN GAZETTE, March 5, 2010 The following new subsection 5.1(4) to be added to the Regulatory Bylaws Section 5.1 following subsection 5.1(3): “5.1 Licences Reguired (4) Subsection (3) does not apply to a member in respect of whose conduct an investigation is initiated or pending until any discipline proceedings arising from the investigation are completed and any penalty imposed by the discipline committee as a result has been enforced”. The following sections of the Regulatory Bylaws 6.2 are repealed and replaced by: “6.2 Accreditation, Examination, and Registration Boards The Board of Directors shall establish the following Boards: (a) Accreditation Board The Accreditation Board shall review educational programs on a periodic review process against standards approved by the Board of Directors. (b) Examination Board The Examination Board shall make recommendations on the academic qualifications of each application against standards for applied science/engineering technology approved by the Board of Directors. (c) Registration Board The Registration Board shall review the academic, and experiential qualifications for all members assessing each against standards approved by the Board of Directors. The Registration Board may:”. Add the following new section 10.4 after section 10.3 of the Regulatory Bylaws: “10.3 Illegal Use of Professional Designations Any person authorized to use the professional designations of “A.Sc.T.” or “C.Tech.” and to hold himself or herself out as an Applied Science Technologist or Certified Technician pursuant to the provisions of the Act who carries on his or her practice in violation of any condition, limitation or restriction imposed upon his or her registration or who fails to inform his or her employer of such condition, limitation or restriction, shall be dealt with in accordance with the Act, and the Bylaws. “10.4 Subject to subsection 5.1(4) , a person who ceases to be a member is subject to discipline in respect of his or her conduct while a member for a period of two years after the person ceases to be a member”.
