The province of British Columbia has become the first jurisdiction in North
America to introduce a consumer based carbon tax. Effective July 1, 2008, the
province commenced assessing this tax to the consumption of fossil fuels including
gasoline, diesel, natural gas, coal, propane and home heatingfuel. This tax will
escalate each July 1st until the provincial targets are met on July 1st, 2012.
As a result of this new tax we will be introducing a British Columbia Carbon Tax
(CT) assessment effective November 3, 2008. This tax will be applied at a rate of
.7% maximum $5.35 against the freight costs for the transportation of any goods
originating or destined to British Columbia. The tax will be shown as a separate
line item (CARBON TAX - CT) on your invoice and adjusted accordingly to
coincide with the July 1st amendments made by the British Columbia Government.

La Province de la Colombie Britannique est la première juridiction en Amérique
du Nord à introduire aux consommateurs une taxe sur le Carbone.
Effectif le 1er juillet, 2008, la province a émis cette taxe sur la consommation des
matières fossiles qui incluent la gazoline, le diesel, le gaz naturel, le charbon, le
propane et les produits de chauffage résidentiel.
Cette taxe va s’accroitre tous les premiers juillet jusqu’à ce que les objectifs
provinciaux soient rejoints, soit le 1er juillet, 2012.
Suite à cette décision nous allons introduire le 3 novembre, 2008 notre propre
surcharge nommée : Taxe sur le Carbone en Colombie Britannique (British
Columbia Carbon Tax - CT). Cette taxe sera applicable en raison de .7% des frais
de transport avec un maximum de $ 5.35 par expédition pour toutes marchandises
en provenance ou allant en Colombie Britannique.
Cette taxe sera clairement indiquée sur la facturation avec la mention : Carbon
Tax-CT et sera ajustée pour coïncider avec les amendements du 1er juillet du
gouvernement de la Colombie Britannique.
