SECOND INTERNATIONAL LOUIS CAHUZAC CLARINET COMPETITION - VERSAILLES COMPETITION RULES The second International Louis Cahuzac International clarinet competition will take place on June 27-28, 2015 over a weekend devoted to clarinet: concerts, film screenings, instrument displays… REQUIREMENT FOR PARTICIPATION The Competition is open to all clarinettists born after December 31, 1983 APPLICATION Registrations will only be considered as final after receipt of the following: - Duly completed application form Curriculum vitae, in French or English Photocopy of ID (passport...) DVD of the first round Application fee of 35 € Applications must be postmarked before March, 31 to: CRR de Versailles Concours Louis Cahuzac 24 rue de la Chancellerie 78000 Versailles - France When inscription is complete, the candidate receives a confirmation by mail. The CRR de Versailles cannot be held responsible for lost applications. Candidates are kindly requested to notify the CRR in case of cancellation. APPLICATION FEES A registration fee of 35 € is payable to “Trésor public”. This fee cannot be reimbursed under any circumstances. Bank details upon request in case of payment by bank transfer. SCHEDULE The competition is divided into three rounds: - First round (selection by DVD) - Semi-final - Final The semi-final and final are open to the public and free of charge. Candidates will perform in alphabetical order. Candidates must present original copies of their scores (no photocopies) The list of candidates selected for the semi-final will be announced at the beginning of May 2015 on the site: www.crr.versailesgrandparc.fr Each selected candidate will received a letter by mail confirming the date and time of their running order as well as the piano rehearsal. 1st round Candidates will be selected by DVD. The recording must be original, no re-touching allowed. Semi-final Candidates must be present at the time specified. The semi-final will take place June 27, 2015 at 9:30 in the CRR de Versailles auditorium - 24 rue de la Chancellerie, 78000 Versailles. Final The final will take place June 28, 2015 at 10:00 in the CRR de Versailles auditorium - 24 rue de la Chancellerie, 78000 Versailles. REHEARSALS An accompanist is provided by the CRR de Versailles for all candidates (free of charge for the semi-final and final). Candidates may perform with their own accompanist at their own cost. One rehearsal per round each is allowed for each candidate. No additional rehearsals are permitted. Practice rooms will be available from June 26 afternoon, and for the duration of the competition. MUSICAL PROGRAM First round (DVD recording to be sent) 10mn maximum - 3 pièces / Igor Stravinsky (éditions Chester Music) and - Etude n°6 / Louis Cahuzac (éditions International Music Diffusion/Arpèges Paris) Semi-final: Public performance June, 27 9:30 15 mn maximum One piece to be chosen from: - Sonatine / Darius Milhaud (éditions Durand) - Sonate n°2 opus 86 / Charles Koechlin (éditions Billaudot) And - Variations sur un air du pays d’Oc / Louis Cahuzac (éditions Leduc) Final: Public performance June, 27 10:00 25 mn maximum - 3e, 4e, 5e mouvements de « Cinq moments retrouvés » / Nicolas Bacri (commande du CRR de Versailles pour le Concours Louis Cahuzac avec l’aide de la société Vandoren) And one piece to be chosen from: - Concerto / Jean Rivier (éditions Transatlantiques) - Concerto / Alexandre Tansman (éditions françaises de musique/Billaudot) - Sonate opus 78 / Marcel Mihalovici (éditions Heugel/Leduc) JURY The members of the jury are prominent members of the musical community. In case of late arrival, the president of the jury will decide if the candidate may still perform. The jury may stop the candidate at any moment. The jury may decide to not award all prizes. The decisions of the jury are irrevocable. The CRR de Versailles reserves the right to cancel the competition in case of an insufficient number of candidates. PRIZES - Buffet Crampon “Prestige” clarinet - Clarinet accessories given by Vandoren - Other prizes TRANSPORT, ACCOMMODATION All travel and accommodation expenses are the responsibility of the candidate. Candidates may be disqualified in case of infringement of competition rules. In case of doubt, the original French text of the competition is legally binding.
