PLEASE MAKE SURE YOU ATTEND ALL THE MEETINGS WE ORGANIZE FOR YOU, A LOT OF
INFORMATION WILL BE PROVIDED.
Moreover, you will need to come several times to the Office to pick up important forms, for instance, your “certificat de
scolarité” and your student ID at the beginning of the semester. Thus, you need to check your emails as often as possible and
abide by all the deadlines. If you are not receiving any emails from our Office, there is a problem. Please check your spam
box.
Twice a semester, we organize a gathering (“un pot”), for all English-speaking exchange students. It is a nice occasion to meet
your American friends and the French students who are leaving for an exchange, or returning. The gathering happens in the
same building as our Office, in the “Salle des Commissions” (opposite the main library (BU)), at 6 o’clock. Everyone brings
something to eat or to drink. No alcohol allowed.

INTERNET
Wireless Connection and Wi-Fi
-At the Cité U, your room is equipped with an Internet connextion (Wifirst). Here is the procedure:
1- Get a connection code of your residence’s welcome desk. You will also receive the code by email or/and by SMS if the
CROUS has your contact details.
2- Connect to the network of your residence (by WIFI or by the Ethernet cable depending on your building).
3- Launch your web browser, and load the page smartcampus.wifirst.net.
4- Key in your connection code (an 8-character code given by the manager of your residence) and follow the instructions !
5- You are now connected to the Internet Enjoy your fast Internet access provided by SmartCampus!
-At the University, you can use the wireless by logging in on the ENT web page of the university:

You will obtain this login once you have registered with Andrée Meyers (and paid for your "Sécurité Sociale" in case this is
not invoiced to your home university).
When your student ID is ready, you will need to validate your login with the information on your student card:

As soon as you have registered, you will have access to your mailbox; your username and password will be needed to access
the wifi on campus.
ENT or Espace Numérique de Travail
Your ENT is useful:
• to communicate with your Professors and the Office of International Relations through the University email;
• to check your grades;
• to register online to some “TD” classes with Mgroup;
• to access the Moodle platform that some teachers use to post material for courses (similar to Blackboard in the US);
• to access the information on student life and orientation.
To validate your login see “Internet and Wireless connection” above. The student assistants are there to help you register.
With your student card, you can borrow books at the library and take advantage of all the “tarif étudiant”, available with your
student ID.

PROCÉDURES/ PROCEDURES
Banque LCL / LCL Bank
Opening a bank account at LCL is compulsory:
• to receive your stipend if you are an ISEP-Exchange student;
• to be able to pay in € by check (the checkbook is optional) and debit card during your stay;
• to have a very cheap housing insurance 1;
• to have a liability insurance.
Documents needed to open an LCL bank account:
• copy of passport and visa
• the acceptance letter you received from us or a copy of your student card (or your “certificat de scolarité”)
• housing certificate 2 or “lettre de logement”
What it is going to cost you:
• 0.08€ / month: debit card
• 5€ / month: housing insurance + liability insurance
Or
• 8€ / month: housing insurance + liability insurance + theft insurance
ATTENTION: it is necessary to always have at least 10€ on your LCL bank account to cover the fees that will be
automatically withdrawn from your account.
After you have filled in the dossier LCL, you will receive an email from the bank giving you your code for your debit card.
You need to go to the LCL bank to pick up your card (and your check book if you asked for one). You will also need to sign
your contract with the bank.
Closing your bank account:
-To rescind your insurances at the end of your stay, you will have to fill in the “Lettre de résiliation en recommandé” form
(given to you by our office).
There are 2 ways to close your bank account:
1) before leaving Montpellier: If you have been reimbursed your safety deposit and are not expecting any more money:
bring the “Lettre de résiliation” to the bank and ask to close your account. To be able to close your account you should not
have any pending transaction. Withdraw the money left on your account one week before closure. If there is less than 10€
on your account you should spend it with your debit card. For instance, if you have 25€45, you can withdraw 20€ and
spend the rest with your debit card.
ATTENTION: you will need to make sure your housing insurance contract is terminated when you leave
Montpellier so it does not continue (it is more expensive after a year).
ATTENTION: Do not use checks at least one month before leaving as they are usually pending for a while. Your
account must not be overdrawn when closing your account.

Once you have left Montpellier and you are still waiting for your safety deposit to be reimbursed and/or the CAF: You
have to check your account regularly. To do so, go on the LCL “accès clients” web page:

Type the codes given to you by the LCL at the opening of your bank account. Here you will be able to check the
transactions on your account.
Then, when you have received the payment you were waiting for, you need to close your bank account. To do so, send an
email to your LCL agency (still on your LCL web page. Click on the link on the top of the page, which says “votre

so the bank will be able to transfer your money in your currency without any fee.
OFII – Office français de l’intégration et de l’immigration
ATTENTION: if “Dispense temporaire de carte de séjour” is written on your visa, you are not concerned by the
following information. If this is not the case, you should have been given an OFII form at the French embassy you
went to for your Visa.
This means you will have to go for the medical checkup at the OFII:
• On the form you got at the French Embassy in your home country, under “Rubriques à compléter après la délivrance du
visa et avant l’envoi à l’OFII”, please write down your name and the mailing address where you will be staying in
Montpellier (either of the Cité U, of your host family or your apartment).
• If you do not have this form, we can print one for you.
• Make a copy of your passport, visa and the stamp from the customs (when you entered Europe).
• Give us all these documents as soon as possible and we will bring them to the OFII for you.
In the following weeks, you will receive two emails from us about the OFII. The first one asking you to come to the Office to
pick up the letter stating that your application has been received. The second one will concern the appointment with the
OFII.
For your appointment:
Bring your passport (visa and stamp included), an ID picture, a housing attestation 3 and a “timbre fiscal OMI (ANAEM) 4” (58€
in 2014-2015), which you can buy in a “Tabac-Presse or Bureau de tabac”. At this appointment, you will have a medical checkup
and your visa will be validated.
OFII location:
The OFII Office is near the St-Roch train station, left to the Macdonald’s, after the “TAM” and on the first floor of “Le
Régent” building.

Frais de programme / Program fees
What you have to pay for upon arrival:
It is compulsory to pay for the "Sécurité Sociale" and the “Vie étudiante” (French health insurance, see details below). Most of
your universities receive an invoice for these fees at the same time as the invoice for the program fee, except Delhi University,
Emory University, Humboldt University, RMIT, University of Cape Town, University of Technology–Sydney, UVic and the
universities part of ISEP. For the students coming with those universities or program, here’s what you have to do:
•
the “Sécurité sociale” fee for your registration (215€ in 2015-2016) and the “Vie étudiante” (5€10 in 2013-2014) have to
be paid for together by “mandat-cash” directly to our office before the end of the first week of classes. We can
give you the forms for “mandat-cash” that you will have to fill in. You will then need to bring the amount in cash and
your passport to the post office (mandat-cash to the order of: Mme l’Agent Comptable de l’UPV). Bring the recipient’s
slip to Mme Andrée Meyers. The “mandat-cash” costs approximately 8 euros. See address at “Adresses utiles en ville /
Useful Addresses in town“.
ATTENTION: it is mandatory to pay for the "Sécurité Sociale " and “Vie étudiante ” to be registered at the
university.
What you have to pay for before the end of September (only for students taking the Pre-session):
• most of you will have to pay directly to us the cost of the room for your Pre-session (about 450€): to be paid either
with a wire (from your French bank account only), with a check or with a “mandat-cash” directly to our office by the
end of September. Please check with your university;
• the Pre-session for some of you: to be paid either with a wire (from your French bank account only), with a check or
with a “mandat-cash” directly to our office by the end of September. Please check with your university.
ATTENTION: if you have to pay for both, the Pre-session and the room for the Pre-session have to be paid in
separate “mandat-cash ”.
Inscription administrative (IA)
When you arrive, you have to fill in a dossier for our office (bureau 207). For that dossier, you need to bring:
• 2 ID pictures;
• 1 copy of your passport;
• 1 copy of your visa (with the stamp of the day of arrival);
• The OFII form, if you were given on by the Embassy.
LA C.A.F (Caisse d’allocations Familiales)
In France, some people can have access to an “aide au logement” (housing allowance). You may be eligible for an “aide au
logement" if you:
•

are a full year student;
have asked for a definitive “numéro de Sécurité social”;
have had, or will have, the medical checkup at the OFII (visite médicale).
You have to:
• fill in a dossier. To do so, you need to go to www.caf.fr and click on the left side: “faire en ligne votre demande d’aide au
logement”. Be careful that you select the form for the students. Then, download the form under the statement “vous
n’êtes pas allocataire”.
• fill in the form very precisely and without forgetting any forms or documents provided, because then the
dossier will take much longer to be examined.
ATTENTION: Our office cannot help you with the CAF dossier, so please be sure you will be able to take care of it
by yourself.

Départ de la Cité U et Remboursement de la caution /Departure from the
dorms and Safety Deposit Refund
Departure dates
Please give your dates of departure from Montpellier to Mme Meyers or to the assistants, as soon as you know them. You will
fill in the “Departure Document” and return it to us by early December or mid-April.
There are 2 ways to get your refund:
1)
Before leaving Montpellier, these conditions are required:
• you have to pay your rent until June 15 before you leave.
ATTENTION: do not pay your last 2 months’ rent by check. If you do so, the Cité U will not reimburse your
safety deposit;
•
Your CAF, if applicable, has to be up to date. Last payment should be beginning of May. Remember that you are on
your own concerning that matter since we do not deal with it.
ATTENTION: only full months are accounted for by the CAF. You won't get the CAF for the month of June.
•
you have done the “Etat des lieux” for which you have made an appointment at least a week before you leave with the
cleaning lady who is in charge of your building; (check out or walkthrough) and everything in your room is clean
(nothing broken and no cleaning hours to be paid for). The cleaning lady will give you a document to give to the
office (secrétariat) at the Cité U);
ATTENTION: anticipate and have your belongings packed and the room cleaned! Anything which was
initially in the room and is not anymore will be taken from your deposit refund.
ATTENTION: cleaning fees can be charged if you have not cleaned your room (20€/hour).
•
you go to the dorm’s office (secrétariat) during office hours weekdays only with the “état des lieux” that the cleaning
lady gave you when you arrived at the Cité U with the “état des lieux” that you have just done and the key to your
room.
ATTENTION: you can only be reimbursed during the dorm’s office opening hours.
ATTENTION: IF ONE OF THESE CONDITIONS IS NOT MET, YOU WON’T GET YOUR DEPOSIT BACK
ON THE SPOT AND WILL HAVE TO WAIT FOR SEVERAL MONTHS (see below).
2)
After you have left Montpellier: there are 2 ways to get your deposit back and your Safety deposit reimbursement form
needs to complete with the accurate information (see below):
• the Cité U (dorm) will send the money to the Crous accountant to make the payment. The Crous accountant will
send the money to your bank in your home country (be aware that it could take between 4 to 10 months to have
your deposit back);
• or the Cité U (dorm) will send your reimbursement to your LCL account in Montpellier. You need to give us your
LCL bank details (RIB). You will have to look at your LCL bank account on the internet once in a while and when
you see that you have been reimbursed completely (Safety deposit, etc.), you will just have to send an email to the
LCL and they will close up your account and wire the money back to your bank in your country’s currency free of
charge.

SANTÉ/HEALTH
French Health Insurance
The fee you have to pay for your French Health Insurance (“Sécurité sociale” or “Sécu”) entitles you to partial coverage by the
French social and health security system.
Depending on what is written on your “certificat de scolarité” given to you with your student card, you will need to go to the
LMDE or the MEP with your student card or your “certificat de scolarité” to obtain proof of this health coverage (“attestation”).
Medical reimbursement:
- If you choose to be registered with a doctor (a little bit like in the UK) and fill in the form “choix du médecin traitant”, you will
be reimbursed up to 70% of the costs of the examination and medicines. You will find this document either at the MEP, the
LMDE or in our office:

first you fill in the box “ identification de l’assurée et du bénéficiaire“;
and if you have to see a doctor, you bring it with you for him to fill in his part: “identification du médecin traitant”;
the doctor will fill in a form called “feuille de soins” after you have been checked up;
you pay for the visit and medication (less than 25€ for the visit);
After the examination, go to the pharmacy if you need to, and with your “ordonnance”, you will probably have nothing
to pay (except for specific medication that is not reimbursed);
after you are done with everything, bring these forms and your LCL bank account details (RIB), to the MEP or
LMDE, and you will be reimbursed.
- If you do not choose to register with a doctor and do not fill in the form “choix du médecin traitant” you will be only
reimbursed up to 30% of the cost of the visit and medication when you go see a doctor.
ATTENTION: For each semester, you will receive a recap of the different costs and reimbursements. Keep it as a
receipt for your home insurance for further reimbursements by your home insurance.

Where should I go for a doctor?
You can go to any “médecin généraliste” in town. You can find below some addresses, but the list is not exhaustive. You
can also find a good doctor by yourself if you want to. Be careful that appointments have to be made with some doctors, and
sometimes there are just walk-in hours.

What should I do if I need to go to the hospital?
If you need to go to the hospital for an emergency, you need to go to Hôpital Lapeyronie. 70% of the costs will be

Les « complémentaires santés » ou « mutuelles »
The MEP and the LMDE are the two organizations dealing with the student “Sécu”. The “Sécu” is compulsory and will
reimburse you up to 70% of the costs incurred.
The MEP or LMDE are mutual funds or “Mutuelles”, which means that they can top up your reimbursements up to another
30%. To benefit from these “Mutuelles” and the additional coverage they provide, you need to pay each month between 5 and
20€ (see below for links and information).
Some of our partner universities require their students take their own Health coverage, in which case you will be able to get
the remainder of your reimbursement through your home insurance, without subscribing to either of the French “Mutuelles”.

La médecine préventive at the university
Medical services can also be found on campus (near the "Maison des Etudiants"). You can go there whenever you need to, free
of charge, for a medical check-up for instance, or injections, or to get a "certificat médical" that will be required if you do sports
at the university.

The University Paul-Valéry Montpellier 3 offers courses in Arts, Languages and Social Studies. Different disciplines are
represented within the different “UFR” and Institut. An “UFR” means “Unité de Formation et de Recherche”. To help you

Moreover, during your exchange period here in Montpellier, you will not be registered like any other French student but as an
“étudiant pluridisciplinaire”. It means that you are not taking all the courses for a degree in a determined field, but that you
can take classes from any department at Paul-Valéry.
You can also register for a few classes at Université de Montpellier (formerly Montpellier 1 and Montpellier 2, before they
merged). If this is the case, you need to let Dr Judith Misrahi-Barak know in advance.
At Université de Montpellier you can take classes in Law, Administration, Health studies, Economics, Sciences, Chemistry,
Biology… You need an Advanced level in French to do that. Please remember to let our office know that you take classes in
another university.

The first is the “inscription administrative or IA”. To do so, you need to give our office copies of your passport,
visa and stamp and to pay the “Sécurité sociale” fee (“Program fee”). You will be registered at the university and
obtain your student card and student login. Please provide the office with 2 id pictures for your student card and
registration file (no photocopies).
The second is the “Inscription dans les cours ”. To do so, you need to go to each department where you want to
take classes and ask them how to register to the CM and/or TD and/or TP. For instance, for some departments,
you just need to write down your name on the list passed around by the Professor the first day of class. For others, it
needs to be done through your ENT (see “internet and wireless connection”).
ATTENTION: This registration is necessary to be able to be on the Professor’s list.

The third is the “Inscription pédagogique or IP ”. To do so, you need to fill in our registration form no later than
two weeks after classes have started, for the classes you have chosen to take. Please fill it in carefully with all the
exact information required: title of the class, teacher, code, schedule, room number, and department. Mme Andrée
Meyers will register you for these classes and you will have to make sure everything is correct.
ATTENTION: This registration is necessary to be able to take your exams.

BE CAREFUL: you will not be able to drop/add classes after the due date. Therefore, double check carefully that the
codes of the classes are correct. Your signature on the “Inscription Pédagogique” is final; it proves that you have checked your
codes and your classes. No changes will be made once you have signed the document. What you should know about classes:
-A CM is a lecture, a TD is a seminar. If a class is composed of 2 or 3 parts (CM+TD; TD+TD; etc.), it is then mandatory to
take every part of the class. In this case, you may have two or three classes but one code, and one grade on your transcript.

One code = one grade but sometimes one code is more than one class!
-Grades are on a scale of 0 to 20.
“ECTS” means European Credits Transfer System. Please note that European credits are not equal to your home University
credits. You need to check with your home advisor what is required from you to be able to transfer your classes at home towards
your Major or your Minor.
ATTENTION: You always need to make sure with your home advisors that your home university will transfer the
courses you have chosen. If you choose your classes on your own, your grades may not be transferred when you return
home.
Cours RI
• The “Cours RI” or “Support classes” are courses designed for our Bilateral Fee-Paying students. These courses are also open
to ISEP Direct students. ISEP Exchange students are allowed to take one “Cours RI”. The places are limited in these classes
and you have been asked to pre-register for them at the time of application.
• Depending on your universities, some of these classes are “required classes”; you can sometimes take only “integrated classes”
instead if you prefer and if your level in French allows it.
• These “Cours RI” do not grant ECTS because they are not part of a university degree. They give you credits, which are
generally transferred by US universities 1 hour = 1 credit.
• These "Cours RI" are not available to students from Delhi University, Emory University, University of Cape Town and
University of Victoria.

As an exchange student you can register with the SUAPS like any other student to practice sports and obtain credits (among
others, basketball, fitness, beach volley, boxing, dance, football (soccer), golf, rugby or yoga…).
You can also take it as an after-school activity; it will then have to be paid for.

To register, you need to bring the following documents to the SUAPS Office (on your way to the Resto U and Cité U VertBois):
• "Certificat médical" (you can obtain one from the “médicine préventive” just below the SUAPS Office on campus)
• 1 registration form to fill in (at the SUAPS)
• your student ID (from the Université Montpellier 3)
• about 25€ (check to the order of: Mme l’Agent Comptable de l’UPV) if you take it as an after-school activity.
Having registered with the SUAPS also allows you to use the tennis court, the gymnasium and the dojo at the “CSU la Motte
Rouge” but you need to bring your own material. It is located at the very top of Paul-Valéry, on Route de Mende. At the first
roundabout, make a left and continue straight on for 5 minutes. The entrance is on the right, after the turn. You have the
parking lot, and tennis court behind.
There are also several public swimming pools in Montpellier. The one most accessible by tram is Antigone (station: place de
l’Europe), it is also an Olympic one

Exams
To pass a class you need to take all the exams related to the class. Please check with your professor what these exams are and
do not miss any. An absence at a final is a 0/20 grade. If you did not do well at one of your exams, you can take it again at the
“seconde session” or “rattrapage” (retake session). Check with the department of the class for the schedule.
• Exams take place during week 13 or week 14 of the semester.
ATTENTION: PLEASE MAKE SURE YOU STAY IN MONTPELLIER UNTIL THE END OF ALL YOUR
EXAMS.
If you are staying for the fall semester only, you will not be able to go for the retake session, which happens in the second
semester. If you think you may fail a class, please check with the professor about possible ways of improving your grade
BEFORE YOU LEAVE MONTPELLIER. There won't be anything we can do if you have failed a class and have left
Montpellier before the "retake session".
ATTENTION: you have to inform us if you have come to an agreement with your professor.
“Attestations de notes”
The “attestations de notes” are a way for us to double check that your grade on the database and the grade given by the Professor
are the same. You will pick up these forms at the Office a few weeks before finals and give them to your professors. Your
professors will fill them in and send them back to our Office once they have graded your exams.
Transcripts
Your transcript will be sent directly to your home University or ISEP Central if you are an ISEP student.
ATTENTION: You will not get your transcripts from us directly.

Located on the campus, near the IEFE: when you have the IEFE in your back, turn right. The "Imprimerie" is a prefab
building.
You can buy cards to make photocopies there. Moreover, you may have to go there to pick up a “fascicule” for some classes.

“Pass’Culture”
The Pass’Culture is a cultural program which offers student discounts on tickets for cultural events (movies, ballet, concerts,
plays…). With this pass, many concerts will cost 5€ instead of 20€, your movie tickets will cost only 3.70€, and many other
events will be cheaper (theater, opera…). To subscribe you need to go to the Pass’Culture booth in front of the Library of
Montpellier 3 on campus with:

• a photo
• you need to have filled in the online form before you go to the booth.

Tam
Tam is the name of the public transportation company in Montpellier.
The pass for people under 26 years old is 35€/month (instead of 48€/month). It allows you to take all the trams and buses at
any time. You need to reload your card every month at any tram station or at the TAM Office (in front of the train station
Saint-Roch).
To subscribe to a pass, you need to go to the Tam Office with:
• your passport,
• an ID picture,
• 5€ for the card and 35€ to pay the first month.
•
It is also possible to pay 245€/year, if you are a full year student. But be careful that you will have to pay for an entire year, so
if you are not in Montpellier for 12 months, this group rate is not recommended.
If you do not plan to take the tram very often, you can only buy tickets or cards for 10 rides. You can buy them directly at any
stations. The more you buy, the cheapest it is.

Associations
There are many associations in Montpellier among others, in sports, arts, community and environment. They organize a “Fête

The Beach
To reach the beach, you need to go to the train station Saint-Roch (Tramway 1 or 2). At the station, take tramway 3 to Pérols
Etang de l’Or (be careful, they don’t all go there).
Then, at Etang de l’Or, a bus will take you to the beach. The ticket is the same on the tram and on the bus. There are buses
every 5 or 10 minutes during the summer.
It will take you about 45 minutes to reach the beach.
You can also go by bike, information at the Tourist Office.

Carrefour City: 5 minutes from the university, this Carrefour is very useful when you live in Vert Bois or Triolet:
when you are in front of your LCL bank, turn left (right is to go to the tram), and continue straight for 5 minutes.
The Carrefour will be just in front of you at the next crossroad;
A Carrefour Market, bigger and cheaper than the Carrefour City is available in the same street. When in front of the
Carrefour City, turn left on Avenue de la Justice de Castelnau and walk for about 15 minutes straight;
On the Place de la Comédie, you have a Monoprix. It is very expensive, but very convenient when downtown;
10 minutes from the Comédie, you have another Carrefour City, Place Alexandre Laissac. Laissac is the name of the big
parking lot painted in pink, the Carrefour is just behind. From the Comédie, walk down the Boulevard Hugo and you will
arrive in front of Parking Laissac.
For a big supermarket, go to the terminus of Tramway 1 Odysseum. At the very last station, you have a big mall and
a big supermarket: Géant Casino.

In Odysseum, you have a big mall, on the terminus of Tramway 1, direction Odysseum.
You can find there many shops and an Ikea, if you need furniture. You can find a Decathlon, where you can buy
sportswear and all kind of materials.

There are several Movie theaters in Montpellier. Most of them are around La Place de la Comédie (tram 1 to Odysseum, station:
Comédie), otherwise there is a multiplex at Odysseum.

Post Offices
The easiest one to access:
• From the Cité-U Triolet: turn right when leaving Triolet, at the roundabout, continue on the left side and on Joseph
Anglada street. Walk 5 minutes and turn left on rue Adrien Proby, the post Office is just there;
• Downtown, you have a post Office on the Place de la Comédie (after the Quick);
• Next to the Place Albert 1er, from the tram station, take the street with the plane trees, avenue Bouisson Bertrand. The
post Office is on this street;
• Downtown, you have a post Office on the place des Arceaux (the square under Romanesque arches below the Peyrou
garden);
• In the quartier des Beaux-Arts (next to the Corum), you have a post Office rue de la Cavalerie.
Rental bikes
You can rent bikes at Vélomagg Tam downtown, in front of Gare St-Roch.

The French operators are:
• Orange (at the Polygone or rue de la Loge)
• SFR (at the Polygone or rue de la Loge or at Odysseum),
• Bouygues (at the Polygone or rue de la Loge or at Odysseum).
You can buy a cell phone and/or a SIM card at any of these places and also at The Phone House (just before the
entrance of the Polygone or of the Odysseum), which is maybe the easiest.
You can buy any kind of cell phone from any French operator (except Free) or use any SIM card from any French operator.
However, we recommend that you take a prepaid cell phone (SIM card) instead of a plan, just because it will be easier for you
to pay as you go instead of rescinding your contract at the end of your stay. For the prepaid cell, it will cost about 35€ to buy
the phone. Then, you buy a prepaid rate in any “bureau de tabac”, it goes from 5€ to 50€ (a number and a code are given.)
ATTENTION: Please, give us your cell phone number, mailing address and room number (Cité U) as soon as
possible and upon any change.
ID photos
You will need to provide several photos (Cité U, our office, the Bank…etc.) You need to find a “photomaton”. There is one
inside the University, in the big library. You can either go to “Copie Conforme” (1444 route de Mende). To go there from the
main entrance of Paul-Valéry, you need to follow the Route de Mende on the left side of the university and when you arrive
to the roundabout; it is on your right, where you have several shops. Copie Conforme is not the first photocopy shop, but the
second one, behind the other shops. Ask for “photos d’identité”. There is also another photocopy shop at the entrance of the
University (on the right when you arrive on campus).
Photocopies
You have many places where you can make photocopies. Near the university, the cheapest place is “Copie Conforme” (see above
for directions).
To make photocopies, you can also buy a card at the “imprimerie” of Paul-Valéry (approximately 4 euros for 100 copies) and
then use the card on any photocopier on the campus (the easiest is inside the university library or at the Imprimerie, just
before the Préfa 8).
Travel
Schengen Area:
Most of the European countries are part of the Schengen area:
Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Italy, Latvia,
Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Slovak Republic, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden,
Switzerland.
It means that your passport and visa will not necessarily be checked at their borders.
However, other countries of the European Union or close to Europe, such as for instance the United Kingdom, Switzerland
or Northern Africa, are not part of the Schengen area.
To travel to these countries, your passport and visa will be checked. If you were required to go to the OFII to obtain your visa
and you did not go, it is possible that you would not be able to go to these countries or to come back from these countries.
