WORLD TEACHERS' DAY Webquest deadline extended to November 14 World Teachers’ Day, is held annually to commemorate the anniversary of the signing in 1966 of the UNESCO Recommendation Concerning the Status of Teachers. The British Council is celebrating World Teachers’ Day To celebrate with us try the TeachingEnglish Webquest competition and win super prizes! from 10 October to 14 November We will be running a competition to encourage Tunisian teachers to focus on their continuing professional development [CPD]. The winners of the competition will be invited to join face-to-face training with UK experts in Tunisia. This webquest competition is open only to Tunisian teachers. The Competition • • You will need to download and save the word version of the webquest competition entry form and answer all 5 questions of the TeachingEnglish webquest competition. You can find the competition entry form http://www.britishcouncil.org/tunisia-world-teachers-day-2.htm You will also need to Create an account on the TeachingEnglish website to enter this competition http://www.teachingenglish.org.uk/ Eligibility • • • • • • • • You must be a practising teacher. The competition runs from 10 October to 14 November 2012. Entries must be received before the closing date. Entries received after 14 November 2012 will not be eligible. The competition is open to anyone over 18 years of age. The competition is open to Tunisian nationals ONLY. You can submit your entries electronically to [email protected] You can enter the competition only once per person during the competition dates. You must comply with the official entry form guidelines. British Council staff or relatives of British Council staff may not enter this competition. Judging • • • Judging will take place in November 2012 after the deadline. Winners will be notified by the end of November 2012. The judging panel will comprise of British Council staff. The decision of the judging panel will be final and no discussion will be entered into. Deadline • • • Electronic entries should be submitted to [email protected] on or before 14 November 2012. Entries must contain the answers on the webquest competition entry form. Remember, no late entries will be accepted. Prizes Winners will be invited to participate in the Learning Technologies for the Classroom (LTC) course, delivered by a UK expert trainer, in Tunis, in December 2012. Subsistence and hotel accommodation will be included as part of the prize. Successful course participants will be awarded the British Council LTC certificate. LTC is a multi-modular course for teachers and trainers of English which covers a number of areas including the following: • • • • • Evaluating and selecting websites Integrating the web Using office applications in a computer room Searching for copyright-friendly materials Using the interactive Web in the classroom NB: Prizes will be awarded to Tunisian nationals and educators ONLY. Conditions governing prizes • Prizes are not transferable and cannot be redeemed in cash or any other form. IMPORTANT: post-competition promotion • • Please note: by entering the competition, you agree to give the British Council permission to publish the results of the competition winners. The British Council reserves the right to use competition winners’ names in Press releases and publicity materials and may require winners to participate in any media coverage including interviews, contribute to British Council promotions both internally and externally.
