America’s staggering defense budget
On Monday afternoon, President Obama will nominate
former Nebraska senator Chuck Hagel (R) as secretary of
defense. The confirmation hearings are likely to focus on
Hagel’s views on Israel and Iran. Yet the biggest headache
likely to face the next defense secretary will almost
certainly be the U.S. military budget.

The United States spends far more than any other country on defense and security. Since
2001, the base defense budget has soared from $287 billion to $530 billion —and that’s
before accounting for the primary costs of the Iraq and Afghanistan wars. But now that
those wars are ending and austerity is back in vogue, the Pentagon will have to start
tightening its belt in 2013 and beyond. If Hagel gets confirmed as secretary of defense,
he’ll have to figure out how best to do that.
Below, we’ve provided an overview of the U.S. defense budget. All told, the U.S.
government spent about $718 billion on defense and international security assistance in
2011 —more than it spent on Medicare. That includes all of the Pentagon’s underlying
costs as well as the price tag for the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, which came to $159
billion in 2011. It also includes arms transfers to foreign governments.
(Note that this figure does not, however, include benefits for veterans, which came to $127
billion in 2011, or about 3.5 percent of the federal budget. If you count those benefits as
“defense spending,” then the number goes up significantly.)
U.S. defense spending is expected to have risen in 2012, to about $729 billion, and then is
set to fall in 2013 to $716 billion, as spending caps start kicking in.
Here’s a historical chart of U.S. defense spending since World War II in inflation-adjusted
dollars. There’s a big spike for the Korean and Vietnam wars. There’s another big ramp-up
during the 1980s under President Reagan. Then defense spending got cut significantly
during the Clinton years until soaring to historically unprecedented levels after 9/11.
U.S. defense spending is set to fall again in 2013, though it will still be as high in real terms
as it was at the height of the Reagan build-up for the foreseeable future.

Venezuela hit as a
tropical depression as of October 17, that is, before being considered as a tropical storm,
which came a day after and obviously before he reached the rank of hurricane. Powerfully
affected (besides Venezuela), Haiti, Dominican Republic, Jamaica, Cuba, Bahamas,
Bermuda, the United States and Canada, claiming the lives of 70 people in the Caribbean,

really like the town that holds medieval

very magical and unusual with the

different way of having fun.

I'll start with the series, I just finished
"Tu Cara Me Suena" and I continue
developing the themes, but release a

Como dijo Chanel, la moda es tu personalidad La sociedad se vería más colorida si cada
uno vistiese conforme a su propio estilo. Es una forma más de hacer arte.
·¿Cómo te introdujiste al mundo de blogger?
Desde siempre me ha gustado la moda, lo
siento, la llevo en mí, y cuando realmente te
gusta algo tienes que luchar por ello. Tengo
miles de revistas coleccionadas en mi habitación
sobre moda, y vi que los mismos consejos que
se dan en ellas podría hacerlos yo en el blog, mi
sueño es crear una revista de moda, pues
empezar con un blog, es empezar por algo.
·¿Quién es tu modelo a seguir?
Sin duda, Olivia Palermo, es única, tiene un
estilo insuperable. Me siento muy identificada
con ella y con su blog. No es la típica
egoblogger que ha nacido tras el boom de los
blogs y de la moda online.
·¿Quién te inspiró para hacerte un
blog?
Pues leer Vogue, Marie Claire, Elle... y ver sus
consejos y su página en internet inspira mucho,
pero como antes he dicho, Olivia Palermo y su
blog me encantaron y me animaron a hacer algo

FIESTA DEL DRAGÓN
La fiesta del dragón se celebra en
las aguas termales de Santa Fé y
reúne a cientos de hippies y
curiosos locales.
En esta fiesta se consumen todo
tipo de drogas y la música se
escucha en los pueblos de
alrededor a todas horas del día.
Aunque tiene aspectos positivos,
como la convivencia de diferentes
grupos sociales, el conocimiento de
una nueva forma de vida o que
atrae turistas a nuestra localidad
, mayoritariamente encontramos
desventajas.
Algunas de estas son: No recogen
la basura que dejan, días antes los
hippies deambulan por el pueblo
rebuscando en la basura, lo que
afecta
negativamente
al
comportamiento de los jóvenes
del pueblo, ya que muchos
empiezan a probar las drogas, y hay
mucha contaminación acústica.
En resumen, creemos que estas
fiestas aunque están vigiladas,
deberían estar más reguladas.

délicates.

LA MUSIQUE F RANÇAISE
MUSIQUE SPECTRALE
La musique française est une mélange d’une variété de stylos de musique. Ella a, par
example, un peu de musique d’Amérique Latine, Afrique, et la musique d’Asie. France est
