C’est à dire, pour tout x réel, exp x = ex . On note e le nombre réel image de 1 par cette fonction, c’est à dire exp(1) = e. 1.2 Propriétés algébriques Propriétés : • • • • Pour tout y > 0 et tout x réel, ex = y s’écrit x = ln y ; pour tout x réel, ln(ex ) = x ; pour tout y > 0, eln y = y ; 0 0 pour tout x et x0 réels, ex ex = ex+x . Preuve : • ex = y donne ln(ex ) = ln(y) donc x ln(e) = ln(y) donc x = ln(y) ; • ln(ex ) = x ln(e) = x ; • ln(eln(y) ) = ln(y) ln(e) = ln(y). Les deux nombres eln(y) et y ont le même logarithme népérien donc sont égaux ; • Découle des propriétés des exposants réels. 1.3 Dérivabilité et application Propriétés : • La fonction exponentielle de base e est dérivable sur R et pour tout x réel exp0 (x) = exp(x) c’est à dire (ex )0 = ex . • la fonction exponentielle de base e est strictement croissante sur R ; • ea = eb si et seulement si a = b ; • ea < eb si et seulement si a < b. x −∞ 0 1 +∞ % e % 1 % 2 Propriété : La fonction f : x 7→ eax+b où a et b sont deux réels fixés est définie et dérivable sur R et f 0 (x) = aeax+b pour tout x réel. Conséquence : • Si a < 0, alors la fonction f définie ci-dessus est strictement décroissante sur R ; • si a > 0, alors la fonction f est strictement croissante sur R. 2 Fonctions exponentielles de base a 2.1 Définition Définition : Soit a > 0. La fonction exponentielle de base a est la fonction qui à tout nombre réel x associe le nombre ax . 2.2 Propriétés algébriques Propriété : • • • • • • Pour tout x réel, ax = ex ln a ; pour tout x et y réels, ax ay = ax+y ; a0 = 1 et a1 = a ; pour tout x réel a−x = a1x ; x pour tout x et y réels, aay = ax−y ; pour tout x et y réels, (ax )y = axy . 2.3 Dérivabilité et applications Propriétés : • f : x 7→ ax est définie et dérivable sur R et pour tout x réel, f 0 (x) = (ln a)ax ; • Si 0 < a < 1, alors f est strictement décroissante sur R ; • si a > 1, alors f est strictement croissante sur R. 3
