new Web Developer that will provide support to the internal and external web offerings. Could that be you?
You are an experienced web developer with a minimum of 4 years’ web development experience in a similar role.
You are a self-motivated individual that is enthusiastic and innovative about what you do. Your experience has
prepared you to deal with the multiple demands of a multi-stakeholder environment and the ability to
troubleshoot and rectify issues quickly.
What would I be responsible for?
As a Web Developer you would be primarily responsible for effective design, development and implementation of
Hydro Ottawa’s web applications. You would be responsible for building and evolving the organization’s internal
and external web offerings by working with divisions across the company using industry standard approaches.
Reporting to the Manager, Web Applications you would be developing designs in support of business
requirements, ensure the security and stability of all developed systems, investigate new and exciting concepts
and explore the adoption of new technologies that can add value to our existing web offerings.
Your ability to identify, analyze and resolve complex problems make you a valuable contributor to any team that
you are a part of. With a focus on excellence, you work well with a team, demonstrate integrity, build effective
relationships, and negotiate with and influence others.
This is a full time position that is part of the Information Management & Information Technology Division. Salary
will be commensurate with qualifications.

Vous êtes un(e) développeur(se) Web chevronné(e) comptant à son actif au moins quatre (4) années d’expérience
dans le domaine du développement Web ou de l’expérience dans un rôle similaire. Vous êtes une personne
enthousiaste et novatrice qui fait preuve d’initiative dans tout ce que vous faites. Grâce à votre expérience, vous
êtes en mesure de composer avec de nombreuses demandes dans un milieu regroupant des intervenants multiples
et de diagnostiquer les problèmes puis de les régler rapidement.
En quoi consisteraient mes responsabilités?
En tant que développeur(se) Web, vous serez notamment responsable de la conception, du développement et de
la mise en œuvre efficaces des applications Web d’Hydro Ottawa. Vous devrez voir à l’élaboration et à
l’amélioration d’offres sur le Web internes et externes de l’organisation en travaillant avec les divisions à la
grandeur de l’entreprise à l’aide d’approches conformes aux normes de l’industrie.
Relevant du(de la) gestionnaire, Applications Web, vous verrez à l’élaboration de concepts à l’appui des exigences
opérationnelles, veillerez à la sécurité et à la stabilité de tous les systèmes développés, étudierez de nouveaux
concepts passionnants et examinerez l’adoption de nouvelles technologies qui peuvent ajouter de la valeur à nos
actuelles offres Web.
Votre capacité d’identifier, d’analyser et de résoudre des problèmes complexes vous permet d’apporter une
précieuse contribution à toute équipe dont vous faites partie. Vous savez miser sur l’excellence, bien travailler en
équipe, faire preuve d’intégrité, établir des relations efficaces, négocier avec les autres et influer sur eux.
Ce poste à temps plein fait partie de la division de la Gestion de l’information et des Technologies de l’information.

SUMMARY:
Under the direction of the Manager, Web Applications, the Web
Developer is responsible for the effective design, development and
implementation of Hydro Ottawa’s web applications. The Web Developer
helps build and evolve the organization’s internal & external web offerings
by working with divisions across the company using industry standard
approaches.
ACCOUNTABILITIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
The essential responsibilities of the job include but are not necessarily restricted to the following:










Gather and analyze business requirements and use cases from internal stakeholders for
engineering web and mobile applications
Develop architectural designs and software solutions in support of business requirements
Develop interfaces to both internal and external systems using web services and other
service-oriented architecture (SOA) based technologies
Utilize Agile development practices to ensure quality, maximize reuse, reduce duplication,
and enable rapid application development techniques
Investigate new and exciting concepts, and explore adoption of new technologies that can
add value to our web offerings
Work closely and collaboratively with internal stakeholders to achieve desired outcomes
Ensure the security and stability of all developed systems and technologies
Contribute to policy and procedure development on web governance
Document and maintain web applications and processes
Perform other related duties as required
WEB DEVELOPER
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE








University degree in Computer Science or a related college education
Minimum of 4 years’ experience building dynamic websites with personalization, social
platforms, mobile applications, and evolving content management systems.
Minimum of 4 years’ experience integrating systems and data through web services, single
sign-on and identity management technologies.
Minimum of 4 years’ experience developing with Java in a web capacity
Minimum of 4 years’ experience developing with PHP 5.x, HTML5, CSS3 and Javascript
frameworks such as JQuery and/or Prototype
Minimum of 4 years’ experience implementing web services and REST/SOAP API protocols
Experience with source control and deployments, writing unit tests and automated testing
Java Certification considered an asset
COMPETENCIES/SKILLS














Solid working knowledge of Enterprise Content Management (ECM) platforms
Solid working knowledge of relational databases including MySQL and Oracle.
Proficiency in developing cross-browser (IE, Firefox, Chrome, etc.) dynamic web
applications with responsive UI/UX web design which meet accessibility standards.
Knowledge and experience working with C#, .NET and Microsoft SharePoint
Knowledge of source control (Git), A/B Testing, SVN and Jira.
Possess a functional understanding of web infrastructure, security and authentication
Ability to identify, analyze and resolve complex problems
Self-motivated individual, enthusiastic and passionate about developing innovative solutions
Strong presentation skills both written and oral.
Ability to influence others and build relationships
Steady focus on quality, continuous improvement and learning
