Pinot Blanc, High Hook, Willamette Valley, Oregon, 2008 ................................... 38.00
Here is a delicious chance to drink well and do good...Our friend Mark Seymour and his partners at High Hook are avid supporters of the
Ocean Conservancy, to whom they donate proceeds from the sale of each case. They have given us the opportunity to participate for the month of
May so we will be donating a portion of the proceeds from the sale of each bottle we sell. Happy Fishing, Happy Swimming, Happy Eating...It's
mostly stainless steel-fermented with just enough barrel-fermented wine to broaden the mid palate a bit and achieve a perfect balance. All of the
barrels are used, so there are no oak aromas or flavors evident in the wine. It's all about fruit and minerals and great acidity.

Blend No. 1, “Greendale White”, Hudson Wine Farms, NY 2008 ............................ 40.00
Juicy, racy and mineral driven - with a charming and bright appeal. This is the debut release from a new project developed by Billy
Rattner, Wine Director for the Xaviar’s Restaurant Group [and in the interest of full disclosure, the one who is typing this tasting note!] The
Wine is composed of 80% Chardonnay from the Greendale Farm in Columbia County, 15% Traminette, and 5% Riesling from the Finger Lakes.
Notes of Meyer Lemon, candied orange, and melon open into a lovely depth of texture with a bracing cool-climate acidity lending a brisk, long
finish.

“Cuvee Zaria”, Batic Estate, Vipava Valley, Slovenia, 2007 ....................................... 47.00
The Facts: Made from a single vineyard site, the three indigenous varietals Pinela, Rebula, and Zelen are grown and fermented together. They
enjoy the cross pollination, like soil, and the benefit of bio-organic production in an all natural yeast environment. What the climate gives of that
particular year is reflected in the bottle. Long maceration periods, unfined and unfiltered, this is a wine-lovers 'orange' wine that brings the
vineyard to the table in unfined and unfiltered glory. Delicious, ancient, and radically natural. But forget the facts and the notes: the best reason
to enjoy this wine is the following quote from Ivan and Miha Batic:
“A complete path from must to wine is written in a grape. A great oenologist understands that wine is a masterpiece of Nature, not man.
The most precious and purest wine is born from only one idea. The idea of Nature.”

Chinon, “Les Galuches”, Wilfrid Rousse, Loire Valley, France, 2009 ...................... 40.00
This Cabernet Franc from Chinon in the Loire Valley is wildly fruity and delicious, but is haunted by a sense of soil prominently apparent on the
nose and on the palate. Gravel and graphite on the nose, some dark fruit, the tiniest amount of burnt earth too. Really lovely on the palate, well
balanced, redolent of iron and blood, ripe fruit, and bright acidity. A great example of modern Chinon - nicely ripe and extracted, and still
definitely of its place. Wilfrid Rousse farms his vineyards organically and allows natural ground cover on some plots, and plows others. Yields
are tiny, way below the maximum allowed in the appellation.

Chateau Cambon, Beaujolais, France, 2008 .................................................................. 35.00
Talk about a summer red wine, this is it. 100% Gamy Noir from Domaine Marcel Lapierre, who practically invented or reintroduced natural
wine making at his Doamine Lapierre and at Chateau Cambon. Sadly, Marcel Lapierre pasted away last October from Melanoma. The NY Times
wine writer, Eric Asimov noted Mr. Lapierre “played a leading role in rejuvenating the diminished reputation of “ Beaujolais. “Rather than these
fruity, happy-go-lucky concoctions, Mr. Lapierre and his colleagues, Jean Foillard, Guy Breton and Jean-Paul Thévenet, produced wines of depth,
nuance and purity that nonetheless retained the joyous nature of Beaujolais.” So in the spirit of joy that is Beaujolais and Marcel Lapierre, we
want you to enjoy his legacy and contribution to the wine world.

“No poem was ever written by a drinker of water” - Horace
Wine comes in at the mouth
and love comes in at the eye;
that’s all we know for truth
before we grow old and die.

I look at you and I sigh.
