Private Party Celebrations
For a memorable friends and family celebration of life’s special moments we
will create a relaxing, enjoyable and fun wine tasting event at you home or
venue of choice in Burgundy or wherever you may be.
Our private events are tailored to fit your personal requirements and budget. We demystify Burgundy in an
informal style and create a tasting experience that can, if you wish, be combined with local cheeses and
charcuterie or be part of a lunch or dinner.

Brief: A 50th birthday celebration
Audience: 35 family and friends arriving in
Burgundy from Finland, France, UK and
USA. Common language English.
Venue: Château de Barbirey in Burgundy
privately rented by the family for the
weekend.
Our brief was to provide an introduction to
Burgundy followed by pairing two different
wines for the entrée, main course, cheese
and desert of a four-course dinner prepared by a local outside caterer.
Our response:
To start the evening with a Crémant de Bourgogne or Kir Royale accompanied by gougères. While guests
enjoyed their aperitif in the lounge we provided an overview of Burgundy taking everyone through the
“basics” in a light-hearted and informal style.
Our challenge was to identify two different wines that paired well with each course. We selected wines that
would pair well but contrast with each other. We served the first wine as the dish was served and the second
as people were halfway through. As we circulated we described the wine, and answered questions while
appreciating that many old friends had not seen one another for many years. So, it was a very “soft”
approach.
Entrée: Viande en gelée: Wines: Bouzeron Aligotè and Rully Clos de
Remenot monopole, Domaine Briday.
Main course: Coq au Vin: Wines: Mercurey 1er Cru Clos Marcilly,
Domaine Briday and Pommard Vieilles-Vignes, Domaine CocheBizouard.
Cheese: Wines: Meursault Les Chevalières, Domaine Coche-Bizouard
and Gevrey-Chambertin (old vintage), Domaine Lucien Jacob.
Desert: Seasonal fruits: Wine: Crémant de Bourgogne Rosé,
Domaine Jean-Pierre Bony.
Coffee: Marc de Bourgogne, Domaine Lucien Jacob.
