This Macroscope tool offers a number of health and well-being indicators that can be useful in
documenting basic needs and key factors for the development of young people involved in the Health
School program. This tool can help you analyse the situation.
Most of the data comes from surveys on health and its determinants carried out among children and
adolescents in Quebec (or the Montérégie when specified). The data is presented according to grade or age,
depending on its availability. Variations in the results according to gender are mentioned when applicable.
The following table is obviously extremely brief. The reader is invited to consult the reference documents
for more details concerning the concepts, definitions, detailed analyses and other topics covered in these
reports. We also suggest you add to this quantitative data using other sources of information.

Average score for self esteem
In this study, self esteem was measured using a scale from 8 to 32. The lower the score, the lower
the self esteem. In the study quoted, the average was used for comparison purposes to study the
association between self esteem and certain other dimensions related to the child.
