CE - Richtlinien Die beschriebenen Produkte genügen den einschlägigen und zwingenden EG-Richtlinien: EMV-Richtlinien 89/336/EWG EMV-Normen EN55014-1, EN55014-2 CE to Order No. 6529 Operating instructions for the INLINE 300 BRUSHLESS motor Congratulations on your choice of the Graupner INLINE 300 motor; this is an innovative product of the highest quality. The INLINE 300 motor provides an outstanding performance in micro-size radiocontrolled models. Please be sure to observe the following safety notes: • Read right through the operating instructions before you attempt to run the motor for the first time. If you dispose of the motor, these operating instructions must also be passed on to the new owner. These motors must always be operated in conjunction with a suitable speed controller designed for brushless motors (see main Graupner FS catalogue). It is not possible to run the motors by connecting them directly to a power source, and any such attempt will completely ruin the motor. • The motor may only be run when mounted securely in a model. As soon as a drive battery is connected, there is a chance that the motor will burst into life (e.g. as a result of an operating error or an electrical fault). This means: when a battery is connected, proceed with the greatest caution. • An electric motor, particularly when fitted with a propeller, is capable of causing injury. If any part should fly off, eye injuries are a potential danger. Initial test-runs should always be carried out without the propeller fitted. • For these reasons the motor should only be run in situations where the possibility of personal injury and damage to property can be eliminated. The only area where persons may safely stand when the motor is running is behind the rotational plane of the propeller. Please also observe the safety notes included with the propeller. If the motor should be damaged (e.g. due to mechanical or electrical defect, damp etc.) do not use it again, as the motor could suddenly fail at any moment. • These motors should only be used in circumstances where no discharge of static electricity can occur. • These motors should be powered only by typical batteries (fitted with BEC connectors) used in modelling, with a maximum capacity of 0.35 Ah, and must be operated in conjunction with a suitable speed controller. On no account connect the motor electrically to a 230 V AC mains power source. • The motor’s use in man-carrying aircraft or other vehicles is prohibited. • Opening or dismantling the motor invalidates the guarantee completely. • Read the operating instructions supplied with the brushless speed controller before connecting the motor to the controller. Installing and operating the motor If you are mounting your Graupner INLINE 300 motor by the front flange (12 mm Ø) it is essential to keep to the maximum screw depth of 2 mm. If the screws project any further into the case they may damage the copper windings, and this would ruin the motor. The mounting holes are threaded M1.7 and are spaced 9 mm apart. Caution: use only the screws provided, and attach the motor to a bulkhead 1 to 2 mm thick made of GRP or beech plywood. The process of shortening longer screws usually distorts the threads, and this will cause damage to the threaded holes in the motor flange. Note that electric motors are ruined if they become too hot. INLINE motors are safe at temperatures up to 90°C, but above this level the motor may be damaged . For this reason it is essential to avoid excessive temperatures. The motor will overheat if it is overloaded, and it can be overloaded by fitting too large a propeller, stalling the motor shaft (preventing it from turning) or running it for an excessive length of time. If you are in any doubt, always use a smaller propeller for initial tests and check the motor’s temperature. The Mini Infra-Red Thermometer, Order No. 1964, is ideal for this. It is advisable to arrange for the receiver to be installed as far as possible away from the motor, speed controller and power cables. The aerial should not be routed past the motor and its high-current cables. If the layout of the model makes this impossible, these components should be shielded with aluminium sheet or foil. On no account extend the cables which exit the motor, as this will cause 1 interference to the RC system and possibly to the loss of the model. We recommend the use of a trailing or whip aerial, as this increases the operational reliability of the radio control system. If you still encounter reception problems, the cause is likely to be a poorly matched combination of components, or unsuitable installation of the receiving system components. Motor cooling It is important to provide adequate cooling for the motor in the model. These motors can cope with high loads but only for brief periods, and the motor’s temperature must never exceed 90°C. After each run the motor must be allowed to cool down to ambient temperature before re-use. Propeller matching The basic rule is this: the higher the operating voltage, the smaller the propeller should be, and vice versa. This means: if you increase the voltage, you must reduce the diameter or pitch of the propeller. If you reduce the voltage, you can safely fit a propeller of larger diameter or increased pitch. If you lack experience in these matters, the following table provides a good starting point: Typ. model Order No. MOSQUITO 6287 NEMESIS 6288 Propeller Order No. CAM SLIM PROP 1372.8.8 CAM SLIM PROP 1372.8.8 Spinner Order No. Plastic spinner, 14 Ø 2393.2 Precision spinner, 20 Ø 6033.22 Speed controller Order No. COMPACT CONTROL 10 2873 COMPACT CONTROL 10 2873 Battery Order No. 2-LiPo 7.4V/0.24 Ah 7600.2 2-LiPo 7.4V/0.24 Ah 7600.2 To avoid overloading the motor we highly recommend that you regularly use some method of measuring the motor current. An excellent choice for this is the clamp multimeter, Order No. 1955. The current drain should lie in the range 2 to 4 A, as the efficiency of the INLINE 300 motor is very high in this range.
