Emotional Object #010: "Roots" is a coffee
table inspired in the Sacred Ceiba tree in
Havana. In a voyage to Havana, we were amazed
with those trees and the way their roots and
branches intertwined. "Roots" reinterprets
that geometry in a contemporary design. A
line goes around the volume of the table
and changes its expression just like a root.
In the upper half, a volume intercepts with
this geometry and present us with a surface
in a contrasting material. After all, nature
is the mother of all forms. It is only necessary to go a little bit further...
This object can be made in two different versions, a positive and an inverted one. In the
"Standard Series", "Roots" has a choice of
four kind of woods, giving a total of eight
variations.
Emotional Object #010: “Roots” est une
table à café inspirée aux fameux arbres
Ceibas sacrés, qui existent à l’Havana. Lors
d’un voyage à Cuba, nous avons été fascinés
par ces arbres et la forme dont ses
branches et racines s’entrelacent. La table
“Roots” réinterprète cette géométrie, se
mêlant à un design contemporain: une ligne
qui entoure le volume de la table et change
d’expression le long de son chemin, tel
qu’une racine. Dans la moitié supérieure, un
volume intersecte cette géométrie et nous
présente une surface d’un materiel tout à
fait innatendu. D’ailleurs, la nature est la
Mère de toutes les formes. Il ne faut que la
dépasser un peu…
Deux versions différentes se proposent: une
positive, l’autre négative. Dans la série
“Standard”, quatre qualités de bois différents permettent huit variations possibles.
